Terrible "Martyrs"

Although I was a firmer supporter of the abolition of the death penalty a long time ago, I still think that the practice of these martyrs was far more cruel than the death penalty itself.

What is really scary is that the tolerance level of this society is too low, the wall is pushed down by everyone, and the stains of a person's past can easily become an obstacle to the future, like a moat that can never be crossed.

If you personally still have hope for life, it is difficult to do this kind of "deeding" thing. We can understand Constance who has cancer, but David is indeed forced by society to leave. on this road.

The compact narrative style of this film is worth learning. The intertwining of two lines is a classic method of suspense movies, but it is not very simple to make it not confusing and well-founded.

Especially the rhythm of the last half hour, the breath taking, the videotape of the last scene, as calm as death after fireworks explode.

The Life of David Gale quotes

  • Constance Harraway: The TA just finished transcribing all the governor's radio and TV comments. Listen to this gem: Journalist - "Governor, don't you think three executions in one week is a little excessive?" Governor - "I say let's bring them in, strap them down, and rock and roll."

David Gale: Oh, it's good to know our governor is in touch with his inner frat boy.

  • Bitsey Bloom: Hate's no fun if you keep it to yourself.
