Yojimbo portrays a chivalrous warrior. The Bushido spirit occupies too important a place in Japanese culture, although it is not unrelated to the Yasukuni Shrine and the war of aggression against China, no matter how anti-Japanese populists are, it cannot escape its charm. The closest one is "Twilight Qingbingwei", which is also a handsome and loving samurai. A little further away there is "Rurouni Kenshin", which is also highly sought after by the Chinese. The idealism of the samurai, the unique aesthetic temperament exuded by the willpower and ability, is deeply permeated in Japanese culture. "Chrysanthemum and the Sword" is also what I want to say. The Bushido spirit separates the Japanese from the mild-mannered Orientals and forms a unique nation that people both love and hate. Yojimbo is at the top of its class, not only because it typically expresses the tough will of Bushido, but also because there is a peaceful and humanitarian concern behind this will. This is probably also the conscious correction of the spirit of Bushido by the Japanese after World War II.
Akira Kurosawa is known as the Shakespeare of the film industry, which is a bit too much. Both "Chaos" and "Spider's Nest City" are adapted from Shakespeare's works, which shows his love for Shakespeare and his good taste. Yojimbo is not something that expresses deep humanity, it is better understood as a genre film showing handsome guys. It's no wonder that Sergio Leone, the big brother of westerns, was so excited when he saw this film, he immediately plagiarized one and called it a fistful of dollars, earning enough money from Western audiences and achieving his position as the master of westerns. To be honest, among his films, the good, the bad and the ugly are more of a comparison. Dollars and Yojimbo are too far-fetched. I just want to say that using a knife and using a gun is very different. If you go too far, it becomes a coercion. Be careful of being struck by lightning.
Mifune is really good-looking, but this kind of good-looking is definitely due to Akira Kurosawa. Mifune was very soft in "Miyamoto Musashi", a soft egg, and it was useless. Yojimbo is the eldest brother of the eldest brother. Even if he is beaten so hard that he can't see his face, he is still the same heroic force. The owner of the hotel told him to hurry up, and he quietly said that he was waiting to see him start a killing spree. As soon as the knife is unsheathed, the murder is invisible. After receiving the sheath, he shakes his clothes and embarks on a wandering journey again.
