Barton Fink is just a noun

In the nearly two hours of the film, I saw countless numbers and heard countless "Barton Funk" and called me "Barton".

Because everyone is Barton Fink, or everyone the Coen brothers presents is Barton Fink. This is an attitude, a collective term for a creative group under the Great Depression in the United States, a group that is undervalued but yearns for attention and recognition.

Barton Fink, was ridiculed as a name unique to the Jews. Jews were mocked as "Long live Hitler", perhaps not a mockery. Because the seats of the two detectives are deeply related. The skin color and the accent really resembles Italian and German Nazis.

This hotel, the receptionist called CHET, the old elevator operator who said "the next stop is the sixth floor" doesn't look like a real person at all. Sensitive, masquerading, and pleasing traits are what Barton Funk bestows on them, or what Barton Fink wants to see. Even a subtle opening and closing of the door will be noticed. Yes, the Button Funks need attention. The sensitive creator's heart needs to be seen and noticed by this era, by the people who are struggling in this era. Because the Barton Finks also struggled to live like this.

Charlie, a lot of later movies have given the visionary or the visionary a name like that. Maybe another tribute to the Coen brothers.

Charlie's existence is known to many to be unreal, because he only appeared with Barton Funk, and never existed alone. Like that wallpaper and oozing glue. Only when Button Fink is looking at him, only when Charlie is looking at him, only when there is someone in the picture does it break and the glue comes out. Like Charlie's ears, he told Barton Fink there was no way to see a doctor. Of course, the Coen brothers' treatment is to add a lot of water words to cover the core meaning. Why can't I see a doctor? Because Charlie's ears only bleed pus in the presence of Button Funk. So, the sound of birds in love making love next door can be heard by Charlie who lives on the other side. So, Charlie repeatedly stressed that this was his home, that he would leave but always come back. Because Charlie lives in Barton Fink's brain.

It's like those damn mosquitoes only appeared on that woman's smooth and firm skin.

Barton Fink did not feel overheated. Because he is used to this kind of temperature. Yes, he can't get used to it because he's from New York. After a 4-hour time difference, I came to the City of Angels. It's much hotter here than New York, but why is he used to it? Because it's all Button Funk's brain. Everything that happens is the creative activity in Button Fink's brain.

So at the beginning of the film, Button Fink is obsessively watching the actors on stage behind the scenes. Why did you only give a positive hit and not give too many counter hits to the actors? Because Barton Fink likes to watch his works being interpreted, and likes to experience his own works in the first place. So, he hesitated. He hesitated to go to Hollywood. Because he wanted to experience the most authentic interpretation, he performed his own script and his own creation. No, he let Button Fink act it out.

"Pa" stormy waves existed in his consciousness. Yes, he needs to be stimulated. Because he's Button Funk.

There's nothing California sunshine can't cure.

Yeah, here it is. Here is where Barton Fink thinks Barton Fink is. Still nothing could heal him until the end. That beautiful woman and the metaphor of a human head in that box really healed him. This is the life he wants, a thing that doesn't know if it's his own (a metaphor for talent and creation), a beautiful woman (a metaphor for the beauty of life). So at that moment, I really came out of the boring process of guessing the plot. Yes, nothing to guess. Because, I am also Barton Funk.

Barton Fink quotes

  • Charlie Meadows: I pulled off early today. Took your advice, went to a doctor about this ear. He says "You have an ear infection, ten dollars please." So I says "I told you I had an ear infection, you give me ten dollars!" Well, that started an argument.

  • Chet: Welcome to Los Angleeees, Mr. Fink.
