This movie is quite to my liking.
The tragic life of the heroine Joe, the pursuit of sex, repression and outbursts, and confusion about love are all a tragedy for women in the male-dominated society. The story unfolds between an old pedantic bachelor and a wounded Joe. JOE's memories and stories can be linked to some knowledge in life that is similar to religious science and art. The old pedant has never had sex, so he has to analyze everything objectively.
The secret ingredient of sex is love. That's true. But when we chase love and sex, we are inherently unequal. For sex, love is the additive. But there is none. Yet pure sex can easily become a deplorable thing for women, because sex is branded as a moral thing, especially for women. It's an ordinary story that a man has several sexual partners, but for a woman, it's a little shocking.
The several stories told in this film can be said to be progressive. From a little girl's obsession with sexual obsession at the beginning, to her youthful enjoyment of sexual indulgence, to the fact that after experiencing family love, sex has become a kind of pressure and indulgence. Joe chose to escape and give up but failed because she couldn't give up own authenticity. In the end, she sincerely chose new start, because at that time she had nothing, youth, love, family, health, and she could live only if she gave up. It is also a tragedy. Living in this society as HUMAN BEING, excessive pursuit of self will be a complete loneliness. Only by compromising some rules, you may not get what you want, but basic requirements. The
ending is also intriguing. Is it the old man ? Kill Joe or Joe killed the old man. In fact, from any point of view, women's pure pursuit of SEX has been shattered again. A scholar who has always been calm and objective, and who is full of a sense of morality and social responsibility, was thoroughly tempted in the face of JOE's indulgence and depravity. And JOE's good wishes for a NEW START are just a wish after all. Because everything is beyond human nature.
In such a patriarchal society, you can only survive if you arm yourself as strong as men, but such a life is destined to be lonely and deformed.

think of two men walking down the train and looking for women , do you think anybody would raise their eyebrow? or if a man had lived a life you have?
and the story about Mrs H would be extremely normal if you being a man, and you come across being a woman.
when a man leaves his children because of his desire, people may accept it as a struggle
but you as a woman, you had to take honor, a guilt, a burden guilt that can never be relieved
all and all , all the blame and guilt, they piled up within years become too much for you, you reacted aggressively, almost like a man, i have to say
and you fight back, you fight back against gender that repressing you, mutilating you, killing you and billions of women
