Recently, I was watching the American drama Paradise Law Enforcer. In the play, the Americans are gods, and the Japanese are good and bad. China and Russia are the evil East.
Most American movies are like that. Although it was frustrating to watch. But consider it a political task for the director and screenwriter.
The Chinese people in this movie are all rambunctious. Looking closely, there are also 2 positive characters. One is Jamie's driver. Respectful and responsible, and still helping Jamie's house in times of crisis. The other is a Chinese woman who came out to fight gangsters when gangsters grabbed Jamie's shoes. It cannot be said that the Chinese in this film are all wretched.
2 hint flags are more interesting. One is a beggar knocking on the bowl in front of Jamie's house. Alluding to the fate of Jamie begging in the concentration camp. The other is Mrs Victor. Unwilling to eat worms, as Jamie said, "You should eat worms. The doctor said that many people died two days before the victory." In the end, Mrs. Victor really died before Japan surrendered.
The last half hour of the movie drags a bit. But it's still a good movie to remember over and over again.
