No one is willing to admit that in such a brainwashed state of war, they can magnify the evil in their hearts to such a degree, whether it is the Germans or the Japanese. Yes, even Nazis and Japanese militarists have a good side. But can portraying the good side offset the bad? Never can. If human beings cannot face their worst self, how can they reflect on themselves, how can civilization progress.
The above should be said to be my political stance. I summed up this film as the savage growth of a smart child who does not have very positive views. This film is not Spielberg's later thematic film, it is a politically incorrect film. And my viewing process did not feel very good. First, the rhythm was too slow, too much emphasis was placed on the perspective and performance of the little boy, but there were too few portrayals of other characters.
Many people say that it is just a child, and Spielberg is objectively narrating the perspective of a child who has nothing to do with China. So if it is said that this film is not a war movie but a growth movie, then it is still in the past. Because a war movie is to make people reflect on war and the distortion of human nature by war.
I think that compared to the foolish kamikaze Gu Ying who sees himself as dead as home, I admire the courage and conscience of ordinary people inspired by extreme environments. I have no sympathy for brainwashed abusers
