Scientist's Confession

This is the first time I saw that a boy confessed to a heroine. I just want to say that I am a great scientist.
"I don't believe in luck but I believe we've known each other since a long, long time"
"Really"
"Yeah know why? When the Big Bang happened, all the atoms in the universe collided together into a small point and burst out of it so my atoms and yours must have been next to each other at the time and then maybe... also collided a few times in the last 1.37 billion years so the atoms know your atoms they have been for a long time know your atom, my atom has always loved your atom"

I was really shocked when I cut off that place in the middle, and the male protagonist kept howling. The girl was shocked when she cried.

Always wandering on the edge of scientific and religious discussions, cleverly open ending. It is also very clever to think of the replacement of the two in Ted Cosmasca's novels. The poetry atmosphere in the director's previous work, Another Earth, is vaguely preserved, the anti-skeletal science fiction, or pseudo-sci-fi, and the easter eggs that imply the possibilities of the story. Another masterpiece this year.

I Origins quotes

  • Ian: You live in this fairy, magical... fantasy land. It's a fucking lie, and you know it's a lie.

  • Priya Varma: You know a scientist once asked the Dalai Lama, "What would you do if something scientific disproved your religious beliefs?" And he said, after much thought, "I would look at all the papers. I'd take a look at all the research and really try to understand things. And in the end, if it was clear that the scientific evidence disproved my spiritual beliefs, I would change my beliefs."

    Ian: That's a good answer.

Priya Varma: Ian... what would you do if something spiritual disproved your scientific beliefs?
