1. About marriage and love

When I took NLP courses before, I heard people say that soul mates cannot be together, but spiritual mates can.

The love in this film reminds me of this sentence. What is the difference between a soul mate and a spiritual mate? Does being together mean getting married? If soul mates can only be used in the heart, even if they have different beliefs, they can still love each other; then a spiritual mate is the one who has a common mission and can spend a lifetime together. In this way, both soul mates and spiritual mates are precious.

What is commendable is that the soul mate and spiritual partner of the male protagonist are not jealous of each other, and they also take good care of the male protagonist's life and work. The barrage shows that more people support Karen. In fact, from the heart, this pair is more pleasing to the eye. Help at work, defender of skepticism, scientific spirit, bravery, sincerity, clear conscience, all kinds of qualities, all make people praise this woman.

Sufi's aura, detachment and intuition are amazing. Because that's love, it's so sudden that scientists can't control it. One can't help but wonder whether this relationship can resist the impact of belief in the future, and whether it can survive in the rough world. Even if Sophie Mina was really the reincarnation of Sophie, so what? Is Sophie a mistress sent by God? The film did not explain whether the male protagonist stayed in India in the end, and whether he took in Sophie. The synopsis of the movie is wrong. When his pregnant wife found out that he was watching a video of having sex with his ex-girlfriend, his words were actually more believable. Because of Sophie's emotional and belief differences, they would never get together. He just hasn't had time to say goodbye to her, that's all.

Marriage and love are two different things.

2. Negation of Negation

What does it feel like to have faith collapsed all the time? Like Karen asked him, what do you feel , not what do you think, in the end, Gray trusted his gut. At first, the existence of God was denied through science, and now the former is denied through my own research. Whether or not there is a god, this thing about rebirth or reincarnation does happen.

Those who are falsified may not be reconciled, but those who can truly face it honestly are indeed brave. Karen and Gray are such courageous beings.

3. On Objectivity

For experiments, the last group should belong to psychometric tests, in which there are serious problems with variable control. Gray turned a blind eye to Sophie Mina's expression and confusion. He took the little girl to an unfamiliar environment without a stress test, and when she chose "wrong", he said incorrectly. There are too many variables in this case, and the resulting options may be unrealistic.

But this may be a stalk left by the screenwriter or director, in order to let Karen ask that sentence at the end, so that Gray can judge the current situation according to his inner feelings.

In fact, the previous experimental controls were not rigorous enough, because Karen's major discovery did not pass the falsification test. In addition, we do not know the data after the insects see the light, so the reliability and validity of the experiment are questionable.

4. Science and Religion

People always have to believe in something.

The effect produced by science is similar to that produced by religion, which makes people pursue and fear. No matter which side you stand on, you must always respect the world and develop yourself, instead of blindly denying it. Unexplainable doesn't mean never knowable. I am obsessed with science because, as stated in the play, science was written by scientists thousands of years ago, but it is constantly being updated. Even if you deny yourself in the end, you will follow it willingly. Like a Möbius ring, heresy is intertwined at some point.

So what is doubted becomes what is believed. What is believed becomes what is denied.

Everything can be traced back to the past, and everything can be moved forward into the future, it seems that something is already doomed.
