It is suitable for one person's afternoon, or two people's afternoon watching. A very beautiful love movie. It's as light as a poem, but it's memorable. It is like a ray of light, giving light but illusory. (If you have the attitude of wanting to watch hardcore sci-fi movies, you will be disappointed)
The content of the story will not be repeated, the plot is not too flawed, and the pictures are too beautiful to be discussed. There are two main points not to stress here: one is love, and the other is our perception of the world - the relationship between science and religion.
The love the story tells is so beautiful. A true love can transcend language and religion. But I don't think it's good for the protagonist to empathize. I personally think that if the female assistant marries another experimenter (of course it's not for the plot), the protagonist will remain single all the time, and it will be better if the protagonist is portrayed as an infatuated image. Good (of course the director did this because of the unique American context).
I really agree with the other point in the movie - experiment is the only test of truth - I believe in science not for any other reason, but for science to withstand the scrutiny of various phenomena and experiments; I don't believe in theology, because Theology doesn't stand the test, not because of anything else. Even though the film tells a story of reincarnation in a scientific guise, this is brought up so that the religious element in the film won't be a minus.
PS: The male and female protagonists are really seductive.
The music is great (particularly emphasising Dust it off, the ethereal voice with the concertina and a little EDM is just too psychedelic)
