Another discussion of war and heroism (just some general brief reviews)

In addition to cruelty to the witnesses, what is the truth of war?
People need heroes to believe in and make them believe that victory is within reach.

But the title of hero is probably just a form of suffering and insult to some warriors who once fought hard to survive on the battlefield, but still occasionally driven by instinct and died for their brothers.

People always crave more than the truth when they're stuck, and find the truth when they don't need it, wiping out the outdated hero. And rarely thought that some people always bear the weight of truth, just to let more people get out of the light of faith.

I watched it again and found that it didn’t seem to be as bad as the first time I looked at it. In fact, the old man did a good job. The problem lies in the story. The show does not seem to have any decent conflicts. Haggis has been playing up the contradictions. The core does not seem to be a very tangled point. However, the rendering of the gold medal screenwriter is still quite impressive.

People who have not experienced war will never know the cruelty of war, when their appearance is eroded by years, but I believe they will still dream of the blood of their brothers flying, can still hear artillery fire through eardrums, bullets in their ears , In the sky filled with gunpowder, the wounded soldiers shouted for the guards. There are no heroes in the war, only survivors. The flag of Mount Oriba does not belong to the soldiers who were injured by the war. It only belongs to the product of the operation of the media and capital. After watching it, there is unspeakable sadness hoarding in my heart, and I admire the director's skill.

Flags of Our Fathers quotes

  • Mike Strank: Any man that doesn't have his masturbation papers in order better get them signed by tomorrow night or he ain't going overseas.

    Gust: I got mine already.

    Lundsford: Oh, yeah, I'm square.

Franklin Sousley: Wait, wait. Why am I just hearing about this?

Mike Strank: That's horseshit, Franklin! I don't have to repeat everything twice for you.

Franklin Sousley: No, I didn't hear nothin' about no masturbating papers!

Ira Hayes: Heard they were running short.

Franklin Sousley: You know, nobody tells me nothing. That's real nice, guys!

Mike Strank: All right, get your ass over to the officer in charge of records. Maybe he's got some more left. Leave your smokes. I'll play for you.

    Franklin Sousley: Thanks, Mike.

Mike Strank: Listen, if he calls you an idiot, you take it like a man, okay? Just *do not* leave without signing them.

  • Belle Block: Oh my Lord, that's Harlon!

    Belle's Young Son: Where?

Belle Block: Right there. Planting that flag, that's your brother.

Belle's Young Son: Ma, all you can see is his behind.

Belle Block: And that's his. I powdered and diapered it, I know my son. That's him. Go get your father.

Belle's Young Son: Daddy, Ma's got a picture of Harlon's keister in the paper!
