The film has its own shortcomings, the old-fashioned plot, the hasty but reasonable ending, and the protagonist's IQ brought surprises, but what makes me really willing to give 5 stars is because of the evil spirit in the film, because I believe this evil spirit called depression.
At the beginning, I really just thought it was a phantom in the shadows that played the human's instinctive fear of darkness. Although she pointed out her mother's depression, she didn't think too much about it until the heroine miraculously realized that the evil spirit came from the onset of her mother's depression.
The barrage in the middle made me very sad for a time. The words that many people said because they were anxious just pierced my pain point. We are born with an instinct to love the light, but suddenly one day, depression came so quietly. I don’t know why the protagonist’s mother entered a mental institution when she was a teenager, but this is a story of a mother and depression.
In the mental institution, the mother met a monster called depression, so she became friends with him under the erosion of depression, and depression controlled her to stay away from other people, and whenever she wanted to make other friends or showed improvement, depression always hurt her. One day, her illness was cured, and her depression was turned to ashes by a strong light. She was discharged from the hospital and gave birth to a charming girl called the heroine. When the heroine was a child, her father left, and the blow brought her mother's depression back, so the heroine had nightmares. There was such a shadow, which always existed in the dark. corner. Later, the mother met a new lover and gave birth to a boy called the male lead. The female lead also grew up, left her mother and stayed away from nightmares and fell in love with a loyal dog man. However, the lingering depression made his father suspicious, and the secret investigation and suspicion angered the depression, and finally contributed to the first drop of blood in the movie.
So the story begins, the blow once again made the mother embrace depression again, and the young male protagonist started a nightmare. The female protagonist who loves her younger brother discovered the evil spirit of depression in the process of helping her younger brother, and remembered the shadow of childhood. The complaint against the mother in the early stage made the mother sink deeper. Perhaps because of the courage of the younger brother to confront or because of the love for the younger brother and the mother, the heroine chose to accompany her. Before she fell asleep, the mother gained the courage to come out again from her family, but she was depressed. Still pulling her, she was powerless to fight, so she could only secretly ask the heroine for help. When night fell, depression began to take revenge, and the whole street was out of electricity. The heroine relied on shaking the electric light (hard work and struggle) and the candle on her brother's chest (a boy's love for his mother) has not been extinguished by depression. The depression that was finally provoked went crazy, turned off all light sources, and was about to kill the heroine in the next moment. At this time, the mother broke free from the door lock, walked out of the closed bedroom, and yelled at Depression, "Don't hurt my child," but Depression told her that you can't kill me with a gun, and you can't save your child. So the mother raised the gun at herself and left with depression.
The ending came so suddenly, so hurriedly, yet so reasonable. Many times we can't understand a depressed person, giving up on ourselves and hurting those around us. But people in depression, just like in the movie, seem to be controlled by an evil spirit. Once their will relaxes a little, it will take advantage of the emptiness to control you, hurt you, and also hurt those close to you. . Please don't point fingers, love does bring strength to the depressed person, and this strength may help but it may not help at all. Depressed people are fighting every moment, but not everyone can overcome it after a long and dark night. Maybe they will be like the mother in the play. destroyed.
I hope that one day, there will be such a light source that will always shine on us, making depression impossible to get close to.
