The film's participants are very strong, and Tony Leung and Andy Lau's high-level and wonderful performances are very enjoyable. When I watched it, I presupposed that the movie was in a dilemma over human choices, and I was very afraid that it would be a tragedy. I thought that the biggest conflict would be in a big conflict between gangsters and the police, and then the undercover slowly appeared. Unexpectedly, the climax was a private duel between two undercover agents.
The reversal of their identities is, to a certain extent, a mirror image. The director also seems to have designed it like this. For example, the plots of the woman beside the two are very similar. One was an undercover police officer sent by the gang, another was an undercover officer sent by the police to the gang, one was tired of the life of the gang and wanted to recover his identity and retire early, and one betrayed the former boss of the gang in constant pulling.
The subject matter chosen by the film is actually very suitable for expressing human nature. In a typical environment with huge differences, how to obtain identity after identity conversion, and how to face the choice between good and evil. So from the beginning, I had this expectation.
The scene where Officer Huang was killed was an unexpected plot. At that moment, I thought that only one person in the world knew the identity of Chen Yongren. Will his death cause Chen's identity to never be reversed.
The film effect is actually quite good at this stage, but it is not as far as I expected, probably because the threshold is too high. But I remember that when I was in junior high school, I was deeply infected by some words, and sometimes I really had a feeling of endless aftertaste, but as I grew up, the chance of this kind of infection became less and less. I don't know if it's because my degree has been rising or because I have rarely encountered such an excellent work.
Thinking about it this way, I can actually re-read those articles I used to do. Maybe it will be more critical from the current point of view, but maybe there will be different findings.
Another thing I forgot to mention is that I am very interested in Morse code.
