change the future

The movie recommended by Mr. Li Xinpin was watched twice on Youku. Not my style, especially the second half, it feels "fake" in some places.

The story is very simple, the scientist's lover was accidentally killed by a gangster. So scientists made a "time machine" to go back in time and want to change the ending. It turned out that he still couldn't save his lover's life. In the end, I chose to go to the future, looking for a solution to the problem...

I like the lines of the film. The past cannot be changed, but the future can. There are two scenes in the film that left a deep impression on me:

the first one is when scientists are on their way to the future, a series of changes are taking place in the world, women's skirts are getting shorter and shorter, and tall buildings are getting more and more. It took a hundred years to complete, but from the perspective of history, everything is too small.

I think: even this earthquake, I am afraid that thousands of years later, it will only become a short line in the history book.

Another paragraph is the ending, where the scientist and his friend appear in the same place, just at a different time. Suddenly I remembered Zhang Ailing's words: So you are here too.

The Time Machine quotes

  • Über-Morlock: You built your time machine because of Emma's death. If she had lived, it would never have existed. So how could you use your machine to go back in time and save her? You are the inescapable result of your tragedy, just as I am the inescapable result of you. You have your answer. Now go.

  • Über-Morlock: Who are you to question 800,000 years... of evolution?

Alexander Hartdegen: This is, this is a perversion of every natural law.

Über-Morlock: [grabs him by the throat] And what is time travel but your pathetic attempted to try to control the world around you? Your futile effort to have a question answered? You think I don't know you, Alexander? I can look inside your memories, your nightmares, your dreams. You're a man haunted by those two most terrible words: What if?
