My angel, like a godsend

The film is adapted from the novella "The Price of Salt" by the famous American mystery novelist Patricia Highsmith. It is said that Highsmith did not admit to being the author of the book until 40 years after he published this novel. You can imagine how isolated and repressed the "homosexuality" was at that time. But compared to "Brokeback Mountain", which is also a same-sex theme, "Carroll" is more gentle and restrained, perhaps this is the difference between women and men's love.
Carroll is played by Carter Blanchett, known as the Queen's professional, and Rooney Mara, who plays Terrell, won the Best Actress Award at Cannes for her outstanding performance in this film. The girl with the dragon tattoo in "The Girl" may be better known.
Terrell lived a bland, well-behaved life before she met Carol. In the original book, she dreamed of becoming an actress, but forced by reality, she had to work in a supermarket to support her living. She is shy by nature, does not understand rejection, has the confusion and anxiety that she had when she was eighteen or nineteen years old, longing for something to change herself, but she does not know what she longs for. The moment she met Carol at the counter before Christmas ignited something deep inside Terrell, and she was terrified and excited. Terrell fell in love with Carroll under the initiative of Carol, which can be said to be "seduced". But at first she wasn't sure if it was love, so she asked her boyfriend, would you like a boy? After her boyfriend replied in astonishment how could it be possible, he would argue in a panic, no, it was just two people who loved each other and ran away. But after getting along step by step, Terrell understands that this is love.
There is a touching scene at the beginning of the film, when Terrell sees Carol arguing with her husband, and she can do nothing but leave alone. On the bustling and noisy train, she suddenly can't bear her grief and sobbing. Anyone who has loved deeply can understand how sad Terrell was in his heart at that moment, and it was also at that moment that Terrier probably knew that he had fallen in love with Carol deeply. Terrell's crying face was printed on the car window, and perhaps it was at that moment that Terrier knew what he wanted to happen!

I once read a post and someone asked: Why do you like someone? The answers below are bizarre, but there is one answer that overwhelmingly agrees with. The answer is only one sentence: because he (she) has light! Yes! When you like someone, even if the world is dark and crowded, you will find him (her) in the crowd at a glance, because there is the light you are looking for.
There is such a scene in the film, young Terrell looks at Carol in the car, and completely forgets the outside world, the camera is focused, only Terrell's twinkling eyes and the joy beyond words are in the picture. I like the director's handling very much. There are only Terrell and Carol in the shot. All the sounds are placed on the consonant track, and there is only the slow-flowing music on the main track. Just like Terrell's heart, only Carol in general.

People say that if you like someone, you can't hide it. So we can see that Terrell will hold up the camera, secretly take pictures of Carol, see that Terrell will pick up Carroll's sweater and smell it again, and will honestly say that she doesn't think of her boyfriend. It was a revelation from the heart. For Terrell, who is only 19 years old, she didn't know how to express her love. Rolle looked at the girl in front of him and said over and over again: what a strange girl!

Excerpt from a translation of the original text:
Carol is like a secret on her body that
spreads throughout the house;
also like a light,
only she can see,
no one else can.
However, the good times did not last long, and Carol finally gave up Terrell and chose her own child between her daughter and Terrell. After all, she still has the identity of a mother. Terrier was left alone, licking his wounds in despair. I can only say it over and over again to the phone that has long been hung up when I miss you in the middle of the night: I miss you!

Fortunately, the film did not end in a tragedy. On the way to the mediation court, Carroll saw Terrell passing by through the car window, and finally understood what she wanted most. Losing her daughter may make her restless, but her soul will not rest without Terrell. As Carroll himself said: If you go against your own heart, what's the point?

At the end of the film, Terrell walked through the crowd and came to Carroll's table, and the two looked at each other for a long time.

Many people, including myself, feel that Terrell has given too much in the whole love, while Carol seems calm and thin in comparison. But when you think about it, Carol didn't respond positively, showing her love for Terrier! It's just that the way of expression is more profound and restrained.
I think people who have loved someone deeply will have an experience. If you fall in love with someone, you will become like dust and sink into the dirt. Self-confidence becomes worrying about gain and loss, proud becomes humble and small, and enthusiastic becomes cautious. Terrell did, and so did Carroll. Therefore, Carol will pretend to invite her freely, will pretend to be calm and politely send Terrell away after she and her ex-husband stumble, and will be shy and afraid to show her in Terrier's camera before picking up The phone, for a long time did not dare to make a sound, could not bear to hang up.

will only look at Terrell twice and say: my angle, flug out of space. Language is so interesting, it is such a sentence, you can't translate it with an exact word, you can only really experience it in that scene, you can understand how much emotion Carroll contains in this sentence, there is joy, there is worry , there is inferiority complex, there is hope.

Fortunately, in the end, Carroll still found Terrell, but fortunately Terrell still loves Carol. Perhaps only film and television can have such a happy ending on the screen. Aside from the complicated labels of homosexuality and extramarital affairs, this is talking about love, a story about two people falling in love, but there are too many reasons in life, there are too many factors, the affairs of two people have become the affairs of many people, and love has also become an accessory under many labels. Many people say that there is no true love in this society. Is that true? How many people have really fallen in love?
When I was in college, the teacher once said in class, why is the back of a person flat? That's because the original man had two bodies, and they were connected to each other to be complete. Because God was afraid of the perfection of human beings, he used an axe to divide human beings in two. Therefore, when everyone came into the world, he was alone and was looking for his other half. Only by finding the other half can he become a complete person. .
It's just that the world is floating, and there are all kinds of living beings. The simplest and most fundamental things have become more complicated and rugged. Perhaps this is also the case, when we see two people who love each other, at the end of the film, through the noisy world, walking through the hustle and bustle of the crowd, and staring at each other for a long time, we will be so moved.
If your eyes are like torches, you will surely see me respond to your affectionate gaze!
