First of all, the production of this movie is very good. The production of puppet animation is inherently difficult, and I admire the details. Compared with it, the so-called conscientious production and sincere production in China are a bit off the table. You are here to make money. Can you compare with people who want to study and develop new technologies and new images? Of course, the pictures serve the story. I have never been very serious about the so-called visual aspect. A good story is expressed in animation, live shooting, flash, shadow puppets... no matter what form it is expressed, some people like it. The picture is beautiful, the story is boring, do you use it for wool?
I love two things about this movie.
First, novel ideas. The samurai father who was turned into a beetle by his grandfather, the mother who turned into a monkey, the magic shamisen, paper and leaves controlled by the sound of the piano... I like this very fairy tale feeling very much.
Second, it has a very national cultural flavor. Sanxian playing, lights floating on the water (I don't know what it is called), beetles on the battle flag (the family emblem of the Japanese nation, right?), mother's clothes, the cemetery for sacrifices, and all kinds of performers in villages and towns ...the nation belongs to the world. In this era of total Westernization, our own culture has been rapidly forgotten. Guarding Jinshan to raise pigs, who is this thing to reason with?
Because of the subtitles, I didn't see too much into the theme of the story. The little boy used the magic piano to control the paper samurai and told a wonderful story, but he could never give a good ending to the story. After going through the hardships of looking for a baby, fighting a demon girl (their two aunts), and his parents dying to save him. He found a good way to give this painful experience a happy ending to the hatred between himself and his grandfather. The evil grandfather also forgot his bad deeds and evil thoughts, he became an ordinary person, and our protagonist also has a relative-grandfather.
My understanding of the film's deconstruction is relatively shallow, and I don't know much about the film, so I hurried to make this film review. First, I like this movie very much, and secondly, it is for the assignment. Maybe in the future, I will have a deeper understanding of this film and a clear understanding of deconstruction, and I will revise it at that time.
