A boy named kubo was chased by his grandfather and aunt forced to hide in a cave with his mother. His father died to protect him, but he still lost one eye. Later, his mother also disappeared to protect him. To defeat his grandfather, kobo set out on a quest for armor and weapons, accompanied by a monkey and a beetle. It turns out that the monkey is the mother and the beetle is the father. But, unexpectedly, it was not the two weapons that defeated the grandfather, but the piano and the three strings of kobo. The story tells us that on the road to growth, mom and dad are the most reliable guardians in the beginning, protecting us to overcome the difficulties . But they will one day grow old and die, then leave us forever. We only have to learn to face difficulties and solve problems alone, then we can get real growth. What is the most important is that even if the person you love is away from you, your thoughts and love for each other will make you stronger.

The story is not the forte. The film represents the current highest level of stop-motion animation. It is the pinnacle of being able to make it. It can be seen that from the scenes to the characters, they are deeply inspired by Japanese culture. A few shots show the greatness of different paper crafts, just like the survival of the cracks in the CG, it is the persistence and dedication to traditional craftsmanship. The overtone of the title refers to the parents, and the protagonist's method of defeating the enemy is also love and tolerance. The concept of "home" is self-evident.

Really a thankless stop-motion animation movie, 1 is a shamisen not a two-string, it really has three strings from start to finish. 2 The story is boring and babbling too much, too many lines, it's almost endless. 3 Force a warm ending. 4 When it comes to art design, everyone uses Japanese origami as inspiration, which is not as beautiful as "Paper Realm". Only a few seconds of murals in Kubo's father's castle are worth seeing. The skeletons are bigger than real people and the animation technology is first-rate.

Kubo and the Two Strings quotes

  • Monkey: He looked into my eyes and uttered four simple words. These words changed everything... You are my quest.

  • Beetle: I'm either a samurai or a really bad hoarder. Either way, inside my thorax beats the heart of a warrior.
