In the past, the sea always felt that the second disease was rampant in Japanese animation, and it was the teenage protagonist who saved the world at every turn. Recently, I watched the newly released "Maze Runner 3" and found that the number of Americans outnumbered the Japanese.
"Maze Runner 3: The Antidote to Death" is the final chapter in the series. The quality of the film is the same as the "Hunger Games" and "Divergent" series, which are also teen dystopian themes, and the filming is getting worse.
After watching "Maze Runner 3", many people questioned that there is no maze in the film at all. In fact, this movie is based on novels. The names of the novel trilogy are "Maze Runner", "Scorching Trial", "Death Antidote", and a prequel called "Killing Order".
So except for the first one, the other stories have nothing to do with the labyrinth. For the convenience of publicity, the film must be titled "Maze Runner". If the title of the film is missing the word "Maze Runner", how much do you think it will lose at the box office?
In fact, "Maze Runner 1" was still amazing when it was released. The film did not copy the "Battle Royale" routine like "The Hunger Games", but played an American suspenseful style similar to "Another Dimension Killing Array":
The protagonist Thomas woke up from an unfamiliar environment and lost his memory, surrounded by a huge moving labyrinth, filled with various traps and monsters, giving people a very shocking and depressing feeling.
The environment setting in the maze also has the significance of sociological experiment: some mazes are a group of boys, and there is only one girl; some mazes are a group of girls, and there is only one boy.
Gender asymmetry in extreme environments can completely stimulate the ugly and cruel side of human nature. However, the film is, after all, a subject for teenage audiences, so I'm just scratching my head at this point.
What's even more pity is that the film has gradually been unfinished since the second part, the biggest highlight of the maze + parkour is gone, and it has become a brainless doomsday zombie film. Of course, this pot cannot be recited by the director, because the original novel is unfinished.
So what to do? It's just that the plot is not enough, and the special effects come together.
At the beginning of the third part, in order to rescue his good friend Mino, who was taken away by the villain organization "Experimental Department", Thomas and his friends staged a "train robbery" action scene, which instantly made the sea jump to " Speed and "Basic Love"".
Later, Thomas found that there was no Mino in the stolen carriage, so he found the base camp of the "Experimental Department" - the last city.
The protagonist group sneaked into the city and experienced all the way of fighting and killing. They were forced to a desperate situation by the villain "Little Finger" and his little minions. Work, is it also familiar? Yes, this is the teen version of Mission: Impossible.
In addition to these homogeneous special effects scenes, the plot of the film is also constantly flawed, collecting almost all the brainless routines that the audience can think of:
The protagonist's life experience is special, Christ will come again, and shoulder the destiny of saving all mankind (However, Thomas, as a former employee of the "Experimental Department", has never found that his blood is the antidote. It really is a black factory, and there is no medical examination for employees!) ;
The protagonist has no bullets, the villains are trash, and the battle damage ratio of both sides is at least 1:10 (poor Uncle Finger was abused by the protagonist's halo, and always killed by the heroine);
The protagonist falls in love at an emergency, loves brothers, and delays the escape time (Newt & Teresa: Director, I can rescue it. Director: No need to rescue, it is already the finale, go directly to the life producer to get a lunch box ).
But the most ridiculous thing about this series is the reason for building the labyrinth.
The mystery created by the first film made fans have the urge to get to the bottom of this, but the explanation given by the screenwriter (author) made people vomit blood: the doomsday virus is raging. In order to test the brain response of immune people in a crisis environment, they built this maze.
In the apocalyptic environment, the cost of doing so is a bit high. It would be better to say that aliens occupied the earth and put the remnants of human beings into the maze to fight and watch, or that the protagonists were all put on sleeping devices, and it was consciousness that passed the level in the maze.
This is also a common problem in works of similar themes: it is easy to dig holes, but difficult to fill them. (The sequels of the "Another Dimension Killing Array" and "Battle Royale" series are also very bad, and a wonderful brain hole is often difficult to justify.)
Of course, although the "Maze Runner" series is bad, it is the only one in the same movie that lets the sea see the end from the beginning. The reason is also very simple: there is no sloppy love story like "The Hunger Games" and "Divergent", and there will be no urge to fast-forward throughout the whole process.
