This is an article that only discusses people and tools, growth, and 1/2 magic. It doesn't discuss possible "cliché plots", and only sees the surprising Pixar. (may contain spoilers)
people and tools
In the film, the relationship between magic and technology has been discussed under the core of growth, but when the coat of magic and technology is removed, in fact, Pixar may want to explore the relationship between people and tools. The convenience brought by technology makes magic disappear. It is the background of the story. The invention of the electric light makes people no longer worry about saving the fire, and the appearance of the automobile makes running look silly, but the development of technology has not only led to the disappearance of magic, but the degradation of instinct and the loss of adventure. What makes people sad, cars make horses forget to run, motorcycles make elves forget to fly, and even treasure intelligence dealers have opened their own restaurants, worrying about some trivialities in the store, not to mention adventure and flying. Magic is just the introduction, and adventure and instinct are the core. Thinking of an American TV series I watched a few years ago, "Chasing: The Bomber", the discussion was about people and tools. Did people invent tools or did tools determine people themselves? Before the invention of the car, people could ride horses, hike To go far away, but after the invention of automobiles, trains, and airplanes, people would never think of going a long way without these means of transportation. Is it the tools that serve us again, or limit ourselves.
1/2 magic
In the film, in the form of 1/2 magic, 1/2 dad, 1/2 phoenix crystal, and 1/2 magic inheritance, we all thought that the final result of Pixar was that a person's magic is not enough to defeat the end. The "Dragon", thinking that his brother would turn into a warrior who wields a sword and slashes a giant dragon, and finally bid farewell to his father again. But Pixar made this growing road movie less cliché, magic is indeed 1/2 magic, but without warriors, a person with only 1/2 magic can't defeat the dragon, but 1/2 magic with courage is invincible. Magic and talent are 1/2 of the road to success in life. Only by mastering those innate abilities can you reach the other side.
Growth, Identity and Inheritance
Before watching the movie, I thought it was a story about a father and son growing up. Even when I danced with my father, I was looking forward to a heart-to-heart talk between my father and the younger son, but growing up is not something that only my father can bring. The younger brother grew up all the way. The growth of the elder brother is a breakthrough. The step that the elder brother never took on the day his father died is the booster for the growth of the elder brother, but the growth of the younger brother is indeed gradual and accompanied. The growth of the younger brother is based on the recognition of the mother and the elder brother for their own identity. The mother will always play her role well, and when the elder brother plays his role well, he inherits his father's identity, so that the younger brother can finally comprehend magic , comprehend the growth, comprehend the meaning of "father".
I really like Pixar's "1/2 Magic", he not only contains growth, courage, which we have been talking about, but more importantly, he makes a person sitting in the theater feel like picking up what he wanted to go to many years ago The urge to take risks, want to ride a bicycle to Tibet, want to climb Mount Everest, want to travel around the world, those dreams that gradually faded as they grew up, once again appeared stars with magic.
