Statement before the review: It has nothing to do with politics or who is who, just discuss the storyline of the movie itself.
Voiceover: On the U.S.-Mexico border, DEA informant Tasia has his head tied to an old tortoise and runs slowly in the setting sun, as he has always been known as: Old Man. He always knew how to do business between drug dealers and the police. It can be said that he has never failed in the past, but this time he did. The anti-narcotics police officers who followed him seemed to have found the joy of suffering for many days, and they all surrounded the "Bastard" and joked obscenely. After they have had enough fun, they plan to take the head of "Bang Ba" off of the "Bang Ba", "Bang"! ! From the black smoke, it rained a bit of meat...
TaTa is an honorable veteran who fought in the Korean War for "freedom". After retirement, he supported himself and never put any burden on the government. He drove a car all his life and never received a ticket. He opened a flowerbed, bought flowers for a living, and devoted himself to each flower, spending almost all of his time caring for them. Of course, this also caused him to lack company with his family. His relationship with his family has always been tense, especially after he missed his daughter's wedding, his daughter has not spoken to him for twelve and a half years. But taking care of the flowers brought him the honor, and of course he enjoyed it, and he took such honor for granted. He's a very classically liberal who knows how to enjoy life on his own, he knows where the best beef sandwiches are in the Midwest, and he'll help change the tires of amigos when they break down. In his opinion, today's young people are really too bad. Everything depends on the black box in their hands. The ice machine is broken? google, how to change tires? google,,, as if they can't live without the mobile phone and the Internet, he has his own pride about this. He likes to come out and say that educating young people should put family first and work second, because this is what he has practiced for decades. He would persuade the drug lord to give up his life here and find a job he really loves, because the people here don't care about him at all. In short, he did his best to show the unique charm of their era; he was very good at praising people, his mouth was sweet, and he often praised the girls and grandmothers with shyness and contentment; The two have no pressure, and even after walking, their legs don't tremble, and they can talk about life philosophies.
But the times are ruthless, and there are always souls under the wheels of the times. His flower shop was mortgaged and auctioned because he couldn't keep up with the changes. He was homeless and went to his granddaughter's house to attend the wedding, but his wife turned away as well as his daughter saw him as an enemy. Only the granddaughter who always supported him poured him corn juice, yes, the granddaughter always supported him, she kept all the postcards he sent her, from the first to the last. From his daughter's angry accusations, he knew that his granddaughter's wedding did not have enough money to buy drinks. Although the granddaughter thought it was okay to tell the guests to bring their own drinks, the daughter and his wife thought it was absolutely impossible. But they don't have enough money. In the quarrel he left sadly. A friend at the party seemed to recognize his predicament and told him he could help them "drive" if needed, and he obliged with little hesitation.
And just like that, a North Korean veteran who fought for his freedom has finally become an honorable drug dealer.
Soon, he successfully completed the first order, got the first payment, and solved the problem of drinks at his granddaughter's wedding. They asked him to call them again if needed and he could continue to serve them. But he said he only did this once. He got a brand new car, thinking that he should get together with his old friends and show off. But seeing the collapse of the bar where they were partying, the friend glanced at the shiny new car and knew that this old buddy was prosperous. So I blurted out: unless some kind person has twenty-five thousand spare money to support us. In this way, TaTa began his glorious second spring.
Soon the bar reopened, and everyone at the party raised their glasses to toast TaTa. He seemed to be back in the days when he was always honored and praised.
If there is one, there will be two, and if there is two, there will be three. The third time, the fourth time, the fifth time...from the first 100kg, to 200kg, 300kg...he undoubtedly became the most valuable "mule". His success and bold and unrestrained style were even summoned by the leaders of his generation. People from an era can only understand people of an era. They chatted happily. The leader invited him to a private party and arranged for him to work in a two-person battle.
At this moment, he can be said to be complacent and has started the second spring of his career. He has a cordial and friendly relationship with his colleagues, and teaches life philosophy from time to time. It seems like everyone who works with him can learn something from him. Good luck, but that's it.
The times are always ruthless, and the people of the times always carry the imprint of the times. People create the era, and the era imprints people. Times changed suddenly and quickly within the drug cartel, and soon TaTa no longer had the privilege of doing whatever he wanted. Not being able to work according to his own work mode made him fall into a deep psychological crisis. His work mode has always been successful and has never gone wrong. This is the capital he is proud of. Precise trajectories lead to precise exposures, and the disappearance of uncertainty will bring about a reduction in the success rate within the complex and ever-changing drug cartels. Obviously the previous boss understood this, but the current boss doesn't. There is an old saying, there is no wall that is impermeable to the wind, and there is no corner that cannot be dug. Your son will be the one to send you to the grave.
Not surprisingly, TaTa was arrested.
The times are ruthless, but the people who represent the times are sentient. "The veteran who once fought for American freedom now faces the loss of his freedom." "They took advantage of his kindness, simplicity and innocence and weakness." He couldn't be silent anymore, he stood up, despite the lawyer's dissuasion "You did a good job, I'm guilty".
Somewhere in an American prison, TaTa planted a garden in a deliberately blooming field. The sun shines down, sprinkles on the petals, and the curtain calls for an era.
In my opinion the film's treatment of the new and the old and all aspects of politics, race is fairly even. The images of the characters are very plump, the only uncomfortable thing is that TaTa didn't think that he was about the same age as his granddaughter during the war? I don't know whose granddaughter this is.
Finally, a salute to drug cops around the world.
