"I could buy anything, but I couldn't buy time.
If I were to describe a literary and artistic worker as "old and strong", the TOP1 in my heart must be Clint Eastwood! If I remember correctly, the old man was nearly ninety years old when he directed and acted in this film (seems to be 88 years old). At that time, I still doubted whether this film was the final work of the old man. De Javier's Lamentations! And I have to say that these two films are of a very high level, and I am beginning to look forward to another one when the old man is a hundred years old!
If my political sense is correct, the old man is definitely a die-hard fan of the American Republican Party, a proper right-wing conservative! Even today when political correctness is crushing people, the old man will not hesitate to express some "politically incorrect" elements in his films, such as; a drug lord group composed of Mexicans, using Negro to call African-Americans, Buying spring, talking trash... Sometimes I really feel that the "old-fashioned" who said these lines is what Mr. Dongmu looks like in life, Dongmu Benmu. This old man is very characteristic; uninhibited, arrogant, stubborn, very hot-tempered, and 100% macho. In short, as a man, annoying characteristics can be found in him, especially the neglect of family feelings. But on closer inspection, this kind of character is not without merit; he is enthusiastic, simple, straightforward, practical and capable, and even a bit chivalrous. The result, of course, is that a "family crisis" is always around ("The Mule", "Classic Car", "Absolute Power", "Unforgivable"). Maybe a straight man like me found some shadows in him (such characters). I always use these characters to make money for myself, and I especially like these characters created by the old man. YY take care of yourself - when you are young, join the army to defend your family and the country; after serving in the military, you can find a solid job with your own craftsmanship; in your later years, you will never take relief money, and work hard to earn bread, milk, coffee, steak with your hands... This is my ideal Life, this is probably the real American spirit or American dream that Mr. Dongmu has been interpreting? In Chinese words, it means "do it yourself and have enough food and clothing"? This is Li Desheng~
Speaking of this film, the old man in the film plays the role of the male protagonist himself. He should have fought in the army when he was young, and after he retired from the army, he has been busy with his flower-growing (like lily?) career, always neglecting his family. But in his later years, he tried his best to mend the broken family/family relationship that he had tossed around, and from time to time he had to help his veteran friends. So he became self-reliant and embarked on an illegal and criminal way of earning/saving money. At the time of his arrest and trial, he frankly pleaded guilty and was willing to serve his sentence in federal prison. In fact, I have discussed with my neighbors before why the old man in the movie pleaded guilty in court with a light "Guilty", so that he may spend the rest of his life in prison. I don’t think this is complicated. On the one hand, the old man is still a patriot in his bones. When he was young, he volunteered to fight for the country, and if he was arrested for breaking the law, he would naturally plead guilty and serve the law; A ranger who enjoys life everyday, but after losing his wife and children, in order not to run around and destroy the remaining family (daughter, granddaughter), he chose a method called "once and for all" to control himself - imprisoned . Of course, the above analysis is purely my subjective analysis, and perhaps each audience's understanding may not be the same. But there is no doubt about the motivation and spirit of "don't ask for help" in the bones of this character, which can kill many social giants in seconds.
That's right, the old man expresses his attitude towards life all the time in the movie-enjoy life & have fun, which also made him miss a lot, leading to a family crisis. This kind of crisis is actually very enlightening today and in real life. Because there are people all over the world and all over the world who think that "men lead the outside and women lead the inside" is justified and is what a family should be like. However, is this really absolute? Is it really reasonable? Not so. I think that if two people decide to start a family, then it must be done by every member of the family. This is a must-do question, not a multiple-choice question. Putting the family aside and busying yourself with your "career" or even just to satisfy your own desires will inevitably lead to family problems. To this day, many people who have entered the palace of marriage are still tortured by the choice of "outside and inside". If I want to say, this family should be two completely equal members. There is no "tradition". They both pay each other and work together. This is the correct way. This seems to have nothing to do with men, women and children, the East and the West, at home and abroad, it should be a family concept or a sense of responsibility.
"Family is the most important thing, and I learned this before I understand it." Sometimes, this lesson is still very painful, perhaps irreparable pain. After all, time waits for no one and is always ruthless.
