never got to that room

Stalker is an allegory, a dystopian vision full of metaphors. The film color of the old tower is switched from monochrome prints to full-color oil paintings, like stepping from the "real world" into the supernatural world. on the way to the room. The two intellectuals eventually abandoned their original attempts (the writer wanted to draw inspiration from the room, the physicist wanted to destroy the room). Stalker, his wife and his daughter seem to represent faith, love and miracles?

The film's long takes, extremely slow narrative rhythm, and mysterious background music are fascinating. A major film by Michael Haneke, Amour, gave me similar feelings.

Stalker is like an allegory, a dystopian vision full of metaphor. Tarkovsky shifts film from monochrome into color, looks like from the “real world” enter into a supernatural world. On reaching the room, both intellectuals gave up their original intention (Writer wants to draw creativity from the zone, the scientist wants to destroy it. )Stalker, his wife and daughter seems to represent faith, love and miracle?

I also love the Long Take, super slow narrative rhythm and mystery background music. My other favorite movie "Amour" directed by Michael Haneke gave me the similar feeling.

    1. Kneeling, the master is worthy of being a master; 2. Soul, subconscious, reality, dream, happiness, selflessness and selfishness, weakness of human nature... So many elements are stacked together and presented in a metaphysical way, sincerely worshipping; 3 . The stinky water ditch turns decay into magic, magic is everywhere.

The most sincere wishes come from suffering... The whole scene exudes an air of devastation and depression, it feels like entering Chernobyl. Metaphorical shots, philosophical lines, the Bolero and the Ninth Symphony to the roar of the rails, it's all absurd and elusive, but it feels so real, "Roadside Picnic" I have learned a lot... Why do I keep watching this kind of ignorant god stick movie recently? !

Stalker quotes

  • Stalker's Wife: You know, Mama was very opposed to it. You've probably already guessed, that he's one of God's fools. Everyone around here used to laugh at him. He was such a wretched muddler. Mama used to say: "he's a stalker, a marked man, an eternal jailbird. Remember the kind of children stalkers have." I didn't even argue. I knew all about it, that he was a marked man, a jailbird. I knew about the kids. Only what could I do? I was sure I'd be happy with him. I knew there'd be a lot of sorrow, but I'd rather know bitter-sweet happiness, than a grey, uneventful life. Perhaps I invented all this later. But when he come up to me and said: "Come with me", I went. And I've never regretted it. Never. There was a lot of grief, and fear, and pain, but I've never regretted it, nor envied anyone. It's just fate. It's life, it's us. And if there were no sorrow in our lives, it wouldn't be better, it would be worse. Because then there'd be no happiness, either. And there'd be no hope.

  • Stalker: In the Zone, the longer way, the less risk.
