The protagonist of the film takes writers and scientists to a room in a forbidden area, because it is rumored that everyone's most secret inner wishes can be fulfilled there. As the writer and scientist lead and escort the stalker through the strange space of the forbidden zone, the stalker tells both of them an untested story: a stalker once entered the room, hoping to get him through his fault. The dead brother comes back to life, but the stalker returns home to find himself extremely rich. The restricted area fulfilled his most secret wish, not the wish to resurrect his younger brother that he desperately suggested to himself. He couldn't stand it and hanged himself.
When the protagonists reflect and explore all the way, and finally reach their destination, they decide not to enter that room because they are not willing to risk their own lives. Their lives are elevated, realizing their tragic imperfections. They don't have enough power inside to believe in themselves - but they have enough courage to look into themselves and be horrified.
When they returned to the resting place, the stalker's wife was also there. Standing in front of them is a woman who was tortured by her husband and gave birth to a disabled child for him. She still loves her unrequitedly as she did when she was young. Her love and loyalty are the last miracle against the lack of belief, morality and spiritual lack in modern society. Writers and scientists are the victims of all kinds of modern society.
Love is a miracle against any dry theory that the world is hopeless and meaningless.
It is your responsibility to make people think about their inner nature. On the surface, they all suffered setbacks, but all three gained the faith of life. The restricted area has no special meaning. The restricted area is life. After crossing the restricted area, people can be frustrated or determined. Whether you can stick to it depends on the person's self-esteem and the ability to distinguish between the serious and the serious.
PS By the way, I can't blame the audience for their bad taste because life does not give us equal opportunities to perfect our aesthetics.
