from him to himself

The Hours is a beautiful and terrifying film, and if you have so many expectations in your life that you can't help but feel like your life is unbearably vulgar and trivial. The dull and peaceful day after day is like a cage that suppresses the soul's thirst for freedom... But no one can escape from life. Those who completely listen to their hearts and choose extreme freedom despite the burden of moral condemnation are still the minority who still have to complete the reconciliation between themselves and the world - choose to integrate. After all, opening your eyes to see the bright sunshine every day and living a good life for those who love you and your loved ones, although ordinary, is also a real happiness.

-------------

Many people say this film is depressing, I seem to be the opposite. Every time I feel helpless and depressed about reality, I will revisit this film, and in the process of watching it, I will suddenly become enlightened from depression.
I don’t know if it’s me, or it’s the case with everyone – deep down, I’m always blaming myself, why I’m not smart enough or working hard enough, why I can’t become a brilliant and glittering character like so-and-so. The Internet has pierced the window paper between us and the great people, and it has also magnified the "dissatisfaction" in our hearts. On the one hand, it is constantly self-pity and self-pity, and on the other hand, it is forced to compromise in real life.
Most of us, however, couldn't possibly be Virginia Woolf, or even Laura who dared to run away from life. Most of us are actually Clarissas, and we love geniuses, we love talented people, and we love people who seem unattainable. When we are close to them, we feel that our life seems to be a little different, and it seems to shine with it; away from them, life is like a pile of rubbish piled up with trivial things, lacking meaning and charm...
But if you look carefully and think about it carefully, you will understand that in fact everyone is different.
There is no one life that is right for everyone, and no life is truly perfect. It is like a besieged city, people outside will always see beauty, but only those who exist in it can experience the ups and downs beyond sweetness. In this case, why do you feel that your life is very low and your life has no value?

A truly brave person is someone who can see clearly the essence of life.
A truly smart person is someone who can figure out what kind of state they are suitable for.

Desires can be endless, and what is not or cannot be achieved is always the best. What is the essence of life? In my opinion, everyone has a range of abilities and certain limitations, and at the same time everyone has their own unique characteristics.
I'm not saying that people should reject desires, set limits on themselves, and stop craving more. In fact, when a person really desires something, he will naturally work hard for it to surpass himself, because this desire has already turned into his inner motivation, no matter how hard he is in the struggle, his heart is filled with warmth.
The real pain is for those who don't have strong ambitions. For them, the goodness shown by others, or the goodness in public opinion, is like the magnificent mask of life. They are just bewitched by this mask, or bear the expectations of others and force themselves, they can't see the essence of life or avoid seeing the essence, and blindly pursue some things that are not really suitable for them. Therefore, what they pursue will eventually be nothingness, and even if they get it, it will not bring any real satisfaction to their hearts.
Seriously, it's better not to think about those who have or not, just look at your current life, see where its strengths and weaknesses are, how you have come to the present step by step, and how you have chosen the present . If it doesn't fit, try to discard it; if it fits, try to continue. After all, not everyone needs to say goodbye to the past with a broken attitude to be considered an achievement, to feel the beauty of life for the good parts that are already there, to realize the happiness in life, I think this is a very smart attitude towards life. This is probably what the ancients said about "contentment and happiness".

Face life for what it is, see it, understand it...then, shape it as it should be.
