For me, what impressed me the most was the photo of the Allied generals in front of the huge sum of gold, while George brought the soldiers of Jewish descent to see Rembrandt, whom his family had never seen.
Many times, when we see these movie stars together, we have a lot of expectations for the movie.
There are high educational expectations, literary and artistic spiritual enjoyment, and low-level sensory enjoyment when spending money to enter the cinema. There are also bland watching movies. This movie is the last one, don't expect too much, it's based on historical facts, don't expect too many twists and turns. To be able to recover so many fine works of art from Hitler and his followers is enough twists and turns.
The movie takes place in the latter stages of World War II, so don't expect many gun fights. The main characters here are not gunners who came out of the baptism of artillery fire, don't expect marksmanship or tactics. Just look at the first person to die for the Madonna. He has a pistol, but marksmanship is just that bad. Therefore, the German officer was only wounded, but was killed by the officer with two shots. The French pilot was also hit by round-trip bullets when he strayed into the ambush and died due to lack of first aid. Isn't the real battlefield just so cruel?
I still think it's worth the money to watch this movie.
In the end, most of the actors here are old guys, so the little plots of playing tricks are also good. It is more interesting to see the original English version.

The Monuments Men quotes

  • Frank Stokes: You can wipe out an entire generation, you can burn their homes to the ground and somehow they'll still find their way back. But if you destroy their history, you destroy their achievements and it's as if they never existed. That's what Hitler wants and that's exactly what we are fighting for.

  • James Granger: Stop, stop. Stop. I seem to have stepped on a land mine... of some sort.

Frank Stokes: Why d'you do something like that?

James Granger: It was a slow day.

Frank Stokes: Well, I wouldn't move.

James Granger: I'd like to at some point.
