"Game of Thrones" S08E02: Heaven is good for reincarnation, who will Heaven spare?

The second episode of "Game of Thrones" is similar to the first episode, both paving the way for the next episode of Winterfell. I can imagine how exciting the next episode will be, and now I'm already looking forward to it.

In two episodes, almost all of the insightful people gathered in Winterfell. Everyone should reminisce about the old, say goodbye, and some people even completed the first experience of life, just to leave no regrets before death.

[Warm reminder: The following contains spoilers]

All the scenes in this episode take place in Winterfell. Personally, the most dazzling part is not that Erya and Gendry put their feelings into action, but the few scenes that moved me.

If a character is flagged or suddenly added to the show, or even unprepared for welfare, the end will not be very good.

After watching this episode, melancholy Eddie, Grey Worm, Tormund, Gendry, Podrick, The Flash, Jorah the Bear, and Bear Island Loli all gave me an ominous premonition... .

Westeros is really full of talents. Following the wandering singer Rhaegar, the pop singer Bronn and the soprano Lord Tyrell, this episode gave birth to a singer with great singing skills - Podrick, the former servant of the little devil . This has always been a hidden master, no wonder the girls willingly provided him with services for free.

It is worth mentioning that Bronn has not yet arrived at Winterfell in this episode. I wonder if he can catch up with this battle in the next episode? I don't know if he came alone, or led the army or came with the Golden Company?

"Jenny of Wasteland"

"In that high hall of kings, Janet dances with the ghosts of dead monarchs." - "A Song of Ice and Fire: A Storm of Ice"

The song that Podrick sings in this episode is very nice. The song is called "Jenny of Old stones". You can also hear this song sung by Florence+The Machine at the end of the credits:

High in the halls of the kings who are gone. Jenny would dance with her ghosts. The ones she had lost and the ones shehad found. And the ones who had loved her the most. The ones who'd been gone for so very long She couldn't remember their names Name They spun her around on the damp cold stone, Spun away all her sorrow and pain and she never wanted to leave Never wanted to leave

The lyrics say that Duncan Targaryen, the "Prince of Dragonfly", was willing to give up the throne for Jenny of Barren Rock City. Although he married Jenny (also translated as Jenny) as he wished, he eventually died in the "Tragedy of Summer Hall" , Jennie herself is said to have fallen into a frenzy with too much grief.

Therefore, this song not only praises beautiful love, but also tells us a tragedy... It seems that in Game of Thrones, no love has a perfect ending.

Maybe there are other meanings here that I haven't seen. I won't do too much interpretation here, just want to say a detail.

In Season 7, Episode 5, Jenny is mentioned by the Maesters in Old Town. In their mouths, Jenny was the liar who claimed to have the bloodline of the Son of the Forest.

In the original book, the person who claimed to have the bloodline of the Son of the Forest was not herself, but a friend of hers.

Actually, what I want to discuss with you most is the last sentence: "The Drowned God can show up and defeat Aegon the Conqueror" , is Euron Greyjoy really strong enough to defeat Long Ma and Jon Snow?

The Kingslayer's Trial

"That boy wanted to be Arthur Dayne since he was a child, but somehow his life took a turn, and he finally became the Smiling Knight." - "A Song of Ice and Fire: A Storm of Ice and Rain"

James just can't remember that on the road to redemption, Deacon Lannister will inevitably have to face the sins he has committed:

The kingslayer in the eyes of the world stabbed Long Ma's father in the back, killed Ned's guard captain Jory on the street, and killed his own relatives in order to escape, not to mention pushing Bran off the tower. paralyzed for life.

However, now he is no longer the lofty lion he used to be, but more like a real knight, which was his childhood dream.

Because of Ned Stark's rigidity and double standards, James has saved hundreds of thousands of people in King's Landing, but he has been carrying the infamy of "Kingslayer" for many years.

It was he who saved Brienne from humiliation and lost her right hand;

It was he who gave Brienne the Valyrian steel sword "The Oathkeeper" to keep her oath to Catelyn Stark and protect the girls of the Stark family;

It was he who rushed to the dragon recklessly in the smoke of gunpowder; in order to keep his promise, he did not hesitate to turn against Cersei, and he was also the one who went north to Winterfell to fight.

When the little devil failed to defend his brother, the beauty Brienne stood up in time to vouch for James.

I still remember that Sansa asked Jon Snow in the last episode if she was blinded by her emotions: "Did you swear allegiance to her to protect the North, or because you loved her?"

This time, instead of questioning Brienne's feelings for James, Sansa chose to unconditionally trust her savior.

James can use the point of "for the benefit of the family" to refute his past mistakes, but only what he did to Bran at the beginning made him always feel guilty.

"You didn't have the slightest apology at the time ," Bran's complaints were also quite sharp.

Let's see what Jaime said after he did that to Bran:

"Even if that kid survives, he's a lame, deformed freak, and I'd rather just die cleanly."

This is really a bit of a slogan. No wonder Bran didn't tell Jaime's deeds to save the people of King's Landing on the spot as we expected.

Of course, there are urgent considerations, but he didn't mention James pushing him, he was already thinking about James.

It would be a lie to say that he didn't mind that, and if Bran really didn't care, it would only mean that he had too much heart.

So, this "how do you know there's a future" is a bit of a mischievous Bran to scare James, right?

Here I suddenly think of James and Jon Snow. Although they don't have a separate dialogue in this episode, the scene where they meet for the first time in Winterfell is still vivid in my mind.

At that time, Jon Snow was planning to join the Night's Watch and felt that it was a very honorable thing to be a member of the Night's Watch.

James ridiculed and ridiculed Jon Snow a lot, and his words and deeds revealed a little bit of contempt: "Even if you're not happy, you have no choice."

However, although this sentence made Jon Snow take a breath, it is also a rare truth. At that time, Jon Snow, who was still an illegitimate child, had other opportunities to stand out besides joining the Night Watch?

If they can get away with being unscathed in the Battle of Winterfell, I'm really looking forward to what they'll say when they're alone.

Dragon mother's choice

囧xue informs Long Ma of her true identity, which is a big highlight of this episode.

What Long Ma cared about most was actually the Iron Throne. Her first reaction when she learned the truth was to think that Jon Snow would threaten her status as the orthodox heir. It stands to reason that this is not a bad thing, after all, she has one more family member to rely on.

This truth will make them re-look at this relationship with each other, and in the future, Long Ma will have to make a difficult choice.

Before Jon Snow was the second man to receive praise from the Dragon Mother, except for the horse king Drogo, who was a little shorter than the horse king.

In this episode, Mother Long chatted with Sansa as her sister-in-law, which once brought them closer, but the contradictions and differences between them could not be eliminated in a short period of time. When Sansa later raised the issue of future power ownership, the two sides remained at odds with each other.

Sansa doesn't know what Long Ma is, and what she worries most is that Jon Snow will lose her mind because of Long Ma: "Men will be blinded by their feelings, do stupid things for women, and even be at the mercy of them." (I Why do I feel more and more that this sentence is actually referring to James)

The reason why Long Ma took the initiative to show her favor to Sansa was actually following Big Bear's advice.

The big bear also persuaded Long Ma to forgive the little devil, as long as it is human, it is inevitable to make mistakes. Da Xiong himself was expelled by Long Ma twice, doesn't he still stand by her side now?

It may be my own problem, how can I see the feeling of the big bear explaining the funeral in this paragraph.

Big Xiong is the person Long Ma trusts most now, and now she can only listen to what Big Xiong has to say.

Big Bear's suggestion made Long Ma start to evaluate the little devil again. She recalled the reason why she promoted the little devil in the first place: "You are not as brave and good at fighting as they are, but you are more visionary than them." The little devil's prime minister position is preserved .

Long Ma ordered the little devil to hide in the basement during the war, because his value was not on the frontline battlefield, and she didn't want him to die in vain.

The little devil has been reprimanded many times by the leaders these days. He feels aggrieved at the same time under great pressure. It is rare to hear the affirmation once, and to find that the leader cares so much about his own life and death, let alone how moved it is!

Three episodes with tears in their eyes

Theon Greyjoy's first step towards self-redemption is to kill Flay's mistress and take Sansa away from Flay's clutches.

Both of them have also been tortured by petty skinning, and they empathize with each other's experiences.

The scene of Theon returning to Winterfell and embracing Sansa is touching and brings back memories of their time together.

Theon took the initiative to ask Ying to protect Bran's safety, after all, he owed Bran too much before.

During Bran's tenure as lord of Winterfell, Theon captured Winterfell and killed Ser Rodrik, and Maester Luwin was killed by the Ironborn's sword.

The young Bran saw with his own eyes that his family was destroyed, and he began a life of displacement.

That little girl with a scar on her face, it's hard not to think of Princess Celine.

The Onion Knight and Gilly also saw the shadow of Princess Celine from this girl. It was the smart and kind princess who taught them to read and write. It's heartbreaking to see a past that I can't bear to look back on.

Brienne is the most chivalrous person in the show. She has almost no blemishes on her body. No matter when she is, she always keeps her vows to Renly and Aunt Cat: she firmly executes the murderer who killed Renly. Tanis, dedicated to protecting the Stark girl.

Such a person with an overwhelming sense of honor is subject to tradition and has been unable to possess the status of a knight due to gender reasons.

Tormund's phrase "Fuck his rules" is really good, although rules can't make a woman a knight, but rules can make a king or a knight give another person the status of a knight.

Brienne is knighted by James, which is the most classic moment in this episode, and the scene that moved me the most:

"I call you brave in the name of the warrior, justice in the name of the Father, and defender of the innocent in the name of the Virgin. Arise, Brienne of Tarth, knight of the Seven Kingdoms."

Brienne finally got her wish and became the first female knight in Westeros.

foreboding

This episode gave me an ominous premonition: Melancholy Eddie, Grey Worm, Tormund, Gendry, Podrick, The Flash, Jorah the Bear, and Bear Island Lori.

Some of them were set up with flags, some were given benefits, and some of them were very eye-catching.

The melancholy Eddie is still the humorous and witty joker. He can have a cross talk if he pulls the person next to him, and also sets up the flag "Our watch starts from now on".

As soon as Tormund came to Winter City, he began to think about his big woman, and explained why he was called "Giant Buster", and then staged a big gulp of milk, which made the Onion Knight even want to eat meat.

The group of cross talk is lively over there, but the Hound here is quite lonely and boring, and the Erya next to him makes him keep mumbling: "You little girl was very good at talking before, why are you suddenly silent now?" already?

The arrival of King Lightning eased the atmosphere a bit. When Erya saw that the two of them were both colleagues of the Wuqi Brotherhood, they were also in the Ghostbusters Squad.

By the way, why haven't the Hound and Sansa ever had a chance to talk? Is it because Sansa, as the Countess of Winterfell, has no time to pay attention to Uncle Dog?

After leaving Uncle Gou, Erya had a candy with Gendry, and the girl finally grew up.

The ambiguous relationship between the two of them can be detected from the last episode.

They burst out with sincere and simple emotions in the midst of adversity. Such love without any political factors is rarely seen in the play.

When Ned and Robert see this scene, they must be quite relieved.

Although the Sansa and Joffrey they had settled on at the time were unpleasant, Erya and Gendry inadvertently continued the close relationship between the Stark and Baratheon families.

Speaking of the children's fathers, I suddenly remembered that the little devil and James said in this episode that he hoped their father Tywin could be here, I don't know that Tywin saw these two "unfilial sons" guarding the winter here. How will the city feel? Will it be so angry that even the coffin board can't hold it down?

Varys the Wise left a classic line in the last episode: "Respect is how young people keep their distance from us (older people) so that we don't reveal that unpleasant truth to them."

When it comes to the advice of the elderly, young people are often hard to listen to, and Bear Island Loli is an example. No matter how Big Bear persuaded her, she would insist on going to the battlefield.

In order to thank the big bear's father for taking care of him, Sam specially gave the big bear the broken sword that has been passed down from generation to generation in the Tully family.

However, when Sam said goodbye to the big bear, he did not forget to set up the flag at the end: "We will see you when everything calms down!"

Unwilling to be left behind, Grey Worm set a flag for the future of him and Missandei. When all the dust settles, Westeros is not destined to be the place for them to stay, and it is really nice to think about the days of returning to their hometown for their honeymoon.

We never figured out what the Night King wanted. And what does the pattern he left behind along the way want to convey?

Bran believes that the main goal of the Night King is himself: " He wants to erase the world, and I represent the memory of the world ", so he intends to use himself as a bait, staying under the heart tree in Winterfell to lure the Night King to appear,囧Xue and others are in ambush nearby, planning to stage a good show of "catching the thief first and the king".

If it's true as Bran said, the Night King's plan can be described as murderous, and the best things in the world can't be forgotten.

As Sam said: "True death is being forgotten. If we forget where we have been and what we have done, we are no longer human."

So why are they fighting? For honor! For justice! For the light!

For the life and death of human beings, and for the whole world!
