The angel who was cornered

I sat on the sofa alone, in tears, and pressed the remote control. The TV picture and the music are gone, but my mind is still floating. I've been covered in tears for the past hour.

Originally, it was just a quiet night, everyone slept, and I was bored, so I randomly found an American movie to watch. It was "Angry Father" starring Denzel Washington, also known as "Immediate." I thought it was yet another film that felt depressing and pathetic, full of sin and carnage, and wanted to give up, but the storyline grabbed me right away.

because of a child.

This is a black kid, about ten years old, whose heart is failing, and his parents don't have the money for a heart transplant. The head of the hospital asked them to be discharged and give up treatment. The child's father is a kind and gentle man. He couldn't raise money everywhere. In desperation, he could only get a gun and coerce the attending doctor to agree to perform an operation on his son. But everything didn't go so well, and the doctor rejected the father's request on the grounds of the hospital's regulations. So the man took control of the emergency room, and the people who came to the emergency room.

At the same time, the police rushed out, vehicles and crowds surrounded the hospital, trying their best to control the "kidnapping" and rescue the hostages.

On the other side of the camera, the dying child lay quietly on the bed with needles inserted all over his body, accompanied by his mother, waiting for his father to raise money to return. They don't know that the person they love the most is going down a road of no return because of love.

The people around were tense and breathless, but the emergency room was peaceful. John, the father, not only did not hurt a single person, but also arranged for the patients to seek medical treatment and find food for everyone. Because of his persistence, the man who was shot saved a life; because of his wisdom, the angry woman took revenge on her cruel and selfish boyfriend; mother. What he did was not like a gangster, but more like a man of noble character.

Reporters from all walks of life come, and a shrewd anchor interviews John's best friend. Listening to this friend's complaint about the social system, his affirmation of John's personality, and his sympathy and understanding of John's situation, people inside and outside the emergency room couldn't help but sigh. Especially the sentence at the end of the interview: "I support you and wish you good luck!" It brought tears to them in the film and me in front of the TV.

The movie goes on, the confrontation goes on, the love and tenderness goes on, and so does our focus on events.

Here, John only asked to put his son's name on the heart donation list; here, the police chief asked to kill John; over there, the head of the hospital said that he could not compromise because of John's violence; here, John's son was sick getting worse.

Everyone seems to be right in their respective positions, and what they do is a last resort, but how difficult it is to achieve the balance everyone expects. I'm really afraid that this drama will have a tragic ending at the end, I think I'm a little afraid to watch it.

When the head of the hospital agreed to put the child's name on the list, John's wife immediately called to announce the good news to John. They don't know it's a trap, and that the phone that connects them and delivers happiness is a bait just for the snipers to shoot John. They don't know, so they just laugh tearfully at the sudden hope, share the joy and love of life, and endure the ups and downs of emotions. John and his son were talking on the phone, talking and looking forward, the strong father's love diffused around, making people laugh with tears.

At this time, the sniper appeared. Although the police chief saw and heard the fatherly love, he gave the order to shoot. Fortunately, a TV station was secretly broadcasting all the scenes, and John escaped under the prompting of others and subdued the sniper. This time, the person in charge of the hospital was completely moved. She really put the boy's name on the donation list. The onlookers were also outraged and turned their guns on the police. They shouted John's name as if he were their hero.

But John no longer trusts him, and he asks for a sniper in exchange for his son. He's going to the emergency room for a heart transplant for his son. The most critical problem is that there is no heart. So, John made a bold decision-choose suicide and exchange his own heart for his son's life. When he loaded the gun, everyone around him was stunned. It turned out that John really never thought of hurting others. He was just forced to go down this road by a rogue. When John called his son for the last time and told him to live well, love his mother, and be a good person, my eyes blurred.

He rambled, because he knew that he would never see the flesh and blood for which he died, so he didn't want to fall behind in every aspect, and every detail was considered. Words and words, all are reluctant, every tear shed is full of unwillingness. Yeah, what parent would be willing to watch their favorite baby grow up day by day and share important moments in his life? However, he had no choice.

At this time, he could only use death in exchange for his son's life. He can only choose the separation of body and soul, and choose to use a heart to support and accompany his son's growth. This is also a kind of eternal life, but it is too cruel. My tears couldn't stop, wrapping my whole body moist. This is what kind of father's love can make him decide to do so.

Maybe God saw his painstaking efforts, maybe the director knew the ending everyone wanted, so a car accident, a young donor, and a heart that just matched, rescued John and his son in time.

John was arrested, his son recovered, and of course John had to pay a price for his actions. But two years in prison, in exchange for his son's life, I'm afraid no one thinks it's not worth it. At the end of the film, my son bowed deeply and said, "Thank you!" At that moment, John, who left with a smile, was really a hero in my heart.

People say that a father's love is like a mountain, and John deserves the title of father. But if there is no such unfair social system, is it necessary for him to come this far? In the film, people's dissatisfaction with asset distribution and social welfare is fully revealed, and they are extremely disgusted with the gap between the rich and the poor, and John's behavior is the most powerful indictment of these injustices and the most unavoidable resistance.

Fortunately, in the film, people's hearts overcame the system, and the weak triumphed, but if it were put into reality, or in a different environment, would there still be such a happy ending? I can't guarantee it.

But, I sincerely hope that the development of society will make this world have more loving fathers and less angry angels, so how good life should be.

John Q quotes

  • Employee Manager: [in his office] Your policy has changed, Mr. Archibald.

John Q. Archibald: [sitting in front of him] Changed to what?

Employee Manager: Yeah, we recently switched carriers from a PPO to a HMO. It's a less expensive policy, but unfortunately, there are some restrictions.

John Q. Archibald: What kind of restrictions?

Employee Manager: Here's how it works: Non-management part-time employees, such as yourself, only qualify for second tier catastrophic coverage.

John Q. Archibald: No, no. I'm not part-time. I'm full-time. It's just slow right now.

Employee Manager: Sure, but your coverage is based on hours worked and like I said, you only qualify for second tier. And that has a maximum payout limit of $20,000.

John Q. Archibald: [shocked] What? Wha- I-I mean-I mean, you guys have been taking money out of my paycheck every week. I've been paying into this policy for years.

Employee Manager: Right. And that's why we're gonna cover you for the full twenty.

John Q. Archibald: You can't be right. I mean, come on. Alright, let me get this straight: You're telling me that you have dropped me from full-time to part-time. You switched carriers. Now you're telling me I'm not fully covered? Even though I got a policy that says I am?

Employee Manager: It doesn't seem right, does it?

John Q. Archibald: No, it doesn't seem right. I mean, my son is sick. If I'm not covered, I've got a serious problem.

Employee Manager: I understand that, uh, but there's nothing I can do. Look, you can file for an appeal.

    John Q. Archibald: Yeah?

Employee Manager: [hands John an appeal application] Here you go. That takes about seven working days.

  • Rebecca Payne: [in her office] No, no, no. This is an appeal. An appeal is for an already existing claim. What you needed to file was a grievance. You filed the wrong paperwork.

John Q. Archibald: [sitting in front of her] Wait a minute...

Rebecca Payne: You're gonna have to resubmit. It could take up to 30 days.

John Q. Archibald: [turns frustrated] Look, I don't have 30 days.

Rebecca Payne: I know you don't.

John Q. Archibald: And quite frankly, I'm getting sick of the runaround. Now what I need is my son's name...

Rebecca Payne: Mr. Archibald, your account is in access of $30,000. The hospital has been over backwards to help you out.

John Q. Archibald: Is that right?

Rebecca Payne: Yes! It is right. But there's a limit to our generosity. Once and for all, your insurance does not cover this.
