The military is the most important and direct force for safeguarding national sovereignty and striving for national interests. And the country, stripped of all its grand-sounding adjectives, is nothing more than a large and small interest group. Small countries have sparse populations, low-quality soldiers and backward equipment. But a big country like the United States has far more military power than other countries. Some people say that they attacked Iraq to find weapons of mass destruction and then defend world peace. This is actually not much different from the Japanese army when they said that they were looking for lost soldiers and invaded China. Going back a little further, Daqin blew ashes more than a thousand years ago. Extinguishing Yan, the reason is that your crown prince finds someone to assassinate our king. We usually skip class and skip work and turn our eyes is an excuse, not to mention these important matters related to national interests. The core of the essence is only the strength of the country, and other miscellaneous things are empty.
So it is said that the United States used such an unreliable excuse to take down Iraq and support a puppet government, and the film traces back to us such a war. There are other advanced military equipment, the military literacy of soldiers, and the shameless + wrangling ability of politicians. All in all, it shows how powerful America is. That's the gist of the movie. And Matt, a conscientious but unprofessional soldier, is just a pretext to subtly show us the comprehensive strength of the United States.
The use of chasing and wartime shots is Paul Greengrass's specialty, and the Green Zone is also used in pure love. Although there is no plot that makes people involuntarily concentrate on the whole plot, but generally speaking, you can appreciate such a skilled film language. This movie is also worth watching.
As for the truth, an unreliable soldier like Matt has appeared in the U.S. military. He disobeyed the orders of his superiors, and even brought his own small group to the back of his top leader. What more truth do you want to know. In my opinion, the only highlight of this film, apart from the expressiveness of the picture, is that it uses a fresh way to promote the strength of the director's own country, rather than the old-fashioned praise of virtue. This is worth learning from Chinese films.
