Full of blood and tears, this is the best sports movie I've ever seen. For competitive sports, perhaps victory represents everything, but for all living beings, basketball is not everything, but a gift in life.
For the children in the slums, basketball may be the spark that lights up their lives, but this spark is too short, maybe it flashes like fireworks, and then comes the endless darkness of life, drug trafficking, early pregnancy , prison and eternal poverty. Coach Carter came here, not just to let everyone play, but to use basketball to bring this group of kids back on track.
Winning is very important, but it is not the whole of life. Basketball is just a gift of life. Do other things well before you are qualified to stand on the court. People who practice martial arts know that "be a man first, then learn martial arts". The same is true for basketball. Without discipline, respect, and reverence, there is no qualification to stand on the basketball court, and that will only tarnish this sacred game. Coach Carter forced these children to be punctual, polite, to go to class, and to pass the test. He knew that basketball was a hope, and should not be used as an excuse for breaking the law. The victory awakened their determination and ultimately changed their lives.
Although we like competitive sports and NBA, there are very few people who can go to professional sports. Maybe the weak team can't beat the strong team even if they work hard. After watching the movie, I recalled the football and basketball games I participated in in college. It seems that the negative is no longer important, and the friendship that has been sweated and fought side by side is the most precious. Sports is not about how to win against our opponents, but how to win against ourselves, how to face our inner fears, and how to pursue the life we want.
