One of this year's Oscar nominees for best picture, although I heard about the boringness of this movie before, but because the heroine has a good reputation, so I turned it out and watched it again with the interest of the film. It can only be said that such a plain and simple traditional drama film really needs a lot of patience to complain about the barrage.

The film roughly tells the story of an Irish girl who went to the United States. It can also be simply summarized as a small town girl going to Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou to open up a new life. It's just that the heroine's protagonist's halo is so dazzling and bizarre. It is enviable from beginning to end. She has been helped by nobles along the way, from the pastor's support to the colleague's support to the landlord's preference to the love of the roommates.

If the movie has an inspirational spirit that wants to express how a little girl who has left her hometown is brave and independent to establish a foothold in a big city, but in fact, the heroine has changed from homesickness and sadness at the beginning to a sudden change, obviously only thanks to the quick change I found a loving, humorous and warm boyfriend. So do you love to drink water? hehe.

Hidden marriage, returning to his hometown to visit relatives and encountering infatuated pursuits, he wandered for a while between the rich second generation in urban and rural areas and plumbers in big cities. In the end, I was frightened by the granny's remarks and decided to go back to New York. Well, love is great, but it is ridiculously fragile in the face of reality.

The human nature described in the film is very real. Although there is no ups and downs in the plot, it is also the true appearance of most of the love in life. Except for the general good luck, it is a mediocre drama. The only thing worthy of praise is that the heroine's temperament is very clean, and the tone of the film lens is delicate and charming.

It is not surprising that this film was not selected for the best picture, and such a film can be selected as the best candidate. I have to once again feel that several films related to the Oscars this year are generally weak.

I like it very, very much, and I go back and forth between the foreign land and the hometown. The foreign land is a restless ideal, and the hometown is an unwilling comfort. I understand the hesitation and struggle of the heroine, and even the vague feelings in the second half, In fact, it is a concrete manifestation of returning to the familiar safe environment. That is not love, it is your instinct to escape from the unknown in a foreign land. I miss the warm and humid air of my hometown all the time, but I also have little ambitions that have nowhere to go

People are strangers in their hometowns.

Brooklyn quotes

  • Mrs. Keogh: I'll tell you this much: I am going to ask Father Flood to preach a sermon on the dangers of giddiness. I now see that giddiness is the eighth deadly sin. A giddy girl is every bit as evil as a slothful man, and the noise she makes is a lot worse. Now, enough.

  • Frankie Fiorello: So, first of all, I should say that we don't like Irish people.

[General cries of outrage around the table]

Frankie Fiorello: We don't! That is a well known fact! A big gang of Irish beat Maurizio up and he had to have stitches. And because the cops round here are Irish, nobody did anything about it.

Maurizio: There are probably two sides to it. I might have said something I shouldn't, I can't remember now. Anyway, they probably weren't all Irish.

Frankie Fiorello: They just had red hair and big legs.
