In the 1950s, the "Blackjack Grand Slam" was the most popular TV puzzle game show in the United States, and thousands of viewers were attracted by it. The ever-winning champion Herb Staple (John Turturro) has won the championship many times in a row, but the TV boss felt that he had lost his freshness and ordered the show producer Dan Enright (David Permer) David Paymer) looking for a replacement. Columbia University honorary student Charles Van Doren (Ralph Fiennes) was hit by Dan Xiang, and Charles naturally became the new defender. When the audience was fascinated by his knowledgeable and witty answers, Congressman Dick Goodwin (Rob Morrow) suspected fraud in the show. The director profoundly portrayed the biggest TV scandal of the year and was nominated for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Supporting Actor at the 67th Academy Awards in 1995.
