Sincerity, obvious advantages and disadvantages

Very sincere and worth seeing.

There are some problems with the director's structure, and it seems that they are deliberately trying to achieve a realistic effect, so that the rhythm of the camera can be made into a country documentary if it is accompanied by a voiceover, but some bright spots, such as Ree and Teardrop's performances, such as pure country music, do not match. The tone of this overall documentary style creates a conflict, feeling that the climax is not enough, or that the audience is drawn into the play in the front, but it does not look like a play in the back. In dealing with the contradiction between authenticity and drama, it seems to be too inclined to the former, but it does not eliminate the latter. It is probably because of this reason that the comments are relatively polar, good ones are good, bad ones are boring.

I think it's better to use a female protagonist with a worse appearance, at least not so flashy in temperament, and rely entirely on documentaries, or make up a little more drama and make up a brighter or more dramatic ending, the effect will be better. But the truth is, the former method is very impractical, why don't you use it when you have the possibility to use some popular actors? The latter method is obviously not the director's idea.

Winter's Bone quotes

  • Gail: [after asking her husband to let her use his truck] He said no.

Ree: Did you tell him I'd spring for gas?

Gail: I told him. He still won't.

    Ree: Why not?

Gail: He never says why not to me, Ree, he just says no.

Ree: Man, it's so sad to hear you say he won't let you do somethin' and then you *don't* do it.

Gail: It's different once you're married.

Ree: It really must be. 'Cause you ain't never used to eat no shit.

  • Ree: He might be hangin' around with Little Arthur and them. You think?

Teardrop: You don't wanna go around Little Arthur's askin' them people about anything they ain't offered to talk about. That's a real good way to end up et by hogs... or wishin' you was.
