everything she has

Winter's Bone doesn't have a compelling plot or emotional ups and downs of characters. But oddly enough, it kept me thinking about those clips after watching it. Perhaps, a look, a back, enough to impress every audience.
The heroine is played by Jenny Lawrence. As a post-90s generation, she did not rely on her face to appear, but her superb acting skills. A pair of eyes, showing helplessness, but also showing strength. Her voice is soft but not strong, and it always brings me into her world, to understand her situation and pain in a vague way. Without heavy makeup or elaborate dress up, she always seems to be indifferent, resolutely rejecting alms from others, and naturally shoulders the burden of the family in times of crisis. She never compromised, and in a difficult situation, not a single tear slipped from the corner of her eyes. Standing proudly in this desperate world, she still looked directly at the pain with those deep and sad eyes.
A back figure, so clear and then gradually blurred, disappeared into the barren fields near or far. She stepped on the road full of thorns and seemed to be looking for an exit. Yes, where is the outlet of fate? At the age of 17, she was at the age of a flower, but she was forced to carry the burden of life. She doesn't seem to complain, just silently proves all this with her actions. "A thousand reasons to be weak are not as good as one strong being." Under the torment that ordinary people can't bear, she miraculously stood up and supported a family.
I think that's all she has. The suffering brought her pain, but it also gave her that strength. From that back, I seemed to see the plum blossoms that were supposed to wither in winter but bloomed miraculously. Just like Mei, the cold wind is biting to the bone, and it will never pierce through her strong heart. In the empty world, she never lowered her noble head, standing with a charming posture, arrogant to everything.

Winter's Bone quotes

  • Gail: [after asking her husband to let her use his truck] He said no.

Ree: Did you tell him I'd spring for gas?

Gail: I told him. He still won't.

    Ree: Why not?

Gail: He never says why not to me, Ree, he just says no.

Ree: Man, it's so sad to hear you say he won't let you do somethin' and then you *don't* do it.

Gail: It's different once you're married.

Ree: It really must be. 'Cause you ain't never used to eat no shit.

  • Ree: He might be hangin' around with Little Arthur and them. You think?

Teardrop: You don't wanna go around Little Arthur's askin' them people about anything they ain't offered to talk about. That's a real good way to end up et by hogs... or wishin' you was.
