unspoken lens

After watching the movie, what left the deepest impression on me were the scenes that were hesitant to say anything. I don't know why, but this movie always gave me a Zhang Ailing-like feeling, meaning that what was said was not said. Like the final teardrop and the consensus in Rei's eyes, what greets the teardrop is death. There was nothing superfluous in the lens, but the result resounded deep in my heart. There are countless shots like this in the film, and it is these shots that set the tone of the entire film.
Most of the feelings of life are quiet and deserted. Whether it is the impact of hunger, the violation of violence, or the abandonment of dignity, it happens in a quiet environment. There is no music in the background of the camera, because life is like this. Yes, just restore life. The camera only shows different lives, without making any evaluation, just showing the life of a living person, in a quiet environment, everyone's life. Hesitating to speak may be the essence of life.

Winter's Bone quotes

  • Ree: He might be hangin' around with Little Arthur and them. You think?

Teardrop: You don't wanna go around Little Arthur's askin' them people about anything they ain't offered to talk about. That's a real good way to end up et by hogs... or wishin' you was.

  • Merab: One of my nephews is Buster Leroy. Didn't he shoot your daddy one time?

Ree: Yes, but that's got nothin' to do with me. They settle that stuff themselves, don't they?

Merab: Shootin' him likely settled it.
