This devil is man made

It is undeniable that there are many bright spots in this film, and the horror atmosphere is well created. In the elevator of a modern metropolis, the plot is innovative. But old-fashioned devils kill, penitents live, old wines in new bottles. Such stories lack freshness. The foreshadowing and the like can be seen to be done with great effort, and the main purpose is to promote repentance. But this devil is too artificial. If repentance is really important to a person, why kill those people when they are still young, does time matter to the devil? Is there a big difference between a confession thought in 1 minute and a decade later? You can say that those who died did it again and again, but the men who survived didn't realize they did it wrong when they were driving the car and drinking the first sip of beer? Did he stop? The devil can decide to punish sinful people who are only in hell, unredeemed in life until death. Like Constantine in "Hell Detective" was redeemed at the end of his life and went to heaven. If the devil in this movie had found him earlier and killed him, wouldn't it have wiped out his chances of redemption? It can be said that the devil in this movie is just man-made. It is used to express some of the author's ideas. It is as ridiculous as it is to use his own poor story to illustrate his own truth.
Stop sticking to the plot, a movie with such a wrong theme doesn't deserve to be discussed.

Devil quotes

  • [last lines]

Ramirez: [voiceover] After my mother would finish her story, she would always comfort us. "Don't worry," she'd say. "If the Devil is real, then God must be real, too."

  • [first lines]

Ramirez: [voiceover] When I was a child, my mother would tell me a story about how the Devil roams the Earth. Sometimes, she said, he would take human form so he could punish the damned on Earth before claiming their souls. The ones he chose would be gathered together and tortured as he hid amongst them, pretending to be one of them. I always believed my mother was telling me an old wives' tale.
