"Don't Let Me Go"

Although it is a movie permeated with desolation and sadness, it has the delicate and gentle pictures and the leisurely and moving soundtrack of British movies! The power of music can silence everything! Forbearance and sadness are concealed under the appearance of a peaceful life!

The three children who grew up in the clone school: Kathy, Ruth and Tommy, became an inseparable part of each other's life due to the entanglement of friendship and love! In their short lives, the three of them still experienced love and jealousy, trust and betrayal, these life issues that will never be answered even in their poorest lifetimes!

Relative to the gentle and pleasant Carey Mulligan, Keira Knightley, although not many scenes, left a deeper impression on me because of the inner changes! I don't know if the movie didn't have enough time to fully unfold or something else! After the film was over, Keira Knightley's character was the most difficult for me to let go of!

Ruth is confident and cheerful on the outside, but in fact, he has low self-esteem and weakness on the inside. Because he knows the tragic ending of life, he is even more afraid of losing! Fight for the love you need when you are young, even if you know you never really have it, you can't have it! When she confessed her jealousy to Kathy and Tommy, begged for their forgiveness, and hoped to make amends, I have forgiven this lonely and helpless child from the bottom of my heart! So I can't understand why Tommy can still say: "What else can you make up for?" The words are full of cold and biting blame and resentment! Can't Tommy and Kathy be together and Ruth needs to take responsibility unilaterally? In the film, I saw an obedient Tommy who never refused Ruth's show of love from the very beginning, even though Kathy's affection for him has long been self-evident!

Ruth finally experienced the most tragic and inhumane way of death on the operating table alone. She had no friends, no lover, no one who cared about her, only cold medical instruments and insensitive doctors; she was on the brink of life, desperate and fearful. At that time, who can give her a firm hug!

Life is indeed limited and short, if you can have true love, you are lucky, and no matter how great true love is, it cannot resist the fate of fate, nor can it hide the selfishness of human nature!

In real life, when we face the helpless fate of fate and the power of destruction that we cannot repay, why is it not a sigh of loss! After watching the film, I feel that there is still no end to it. The shock of this work must come from the richer inner world of the characters in the book, which brings us reflection and inspiration about life! I think the original book must be more exciting, and I can't wait to understand the indifferent and cruel world in the original book, the protagonist's ignited hopes and dark disappointments, a sincere friendship, an ambiguous journey, a can't help but feel heart, and how to compose the music of their life in the cage of their own destiny!

Never Let Me Go quotes

  • Kathy: It had never occurred to me that our lives, which had been so closely interwoven, could unravel with such speed. If I'd known, maybe I'd have kept tighter hold of them and not let unseen tides pull us apart.

  • [first lines]

Kathy: My name is Kathy H. I'm 28 years old. I've been a carer for nine years. And I'm good at my job. My patients always do better than expected, and are hardly ever classified as agitated, even if they're about to make a donation. I'm not trying to boast, but I feel a great sense of pride in what we do. Carers and donors have achieved so much. That said, we aren't machines. In the end it wears you down. I suppose that's why I now spend most of my time not looking forwards, but looking back, to The Cottages and Hailsham, and what happened to us there. Me. Tommy. And Ruth.
