The beginning of the story is beautiful. The campus life is like a fairy tale. The beauty here is outrageous. A group of naive children live in it.
This is a good school, for example, the principal emphasized when he found out that there was smoking on campus - the number one priority of children in this school is to maintain good health, how healthy and full of positive energy education.
The children here are like other children in our impression, they learn all kinds of knowledge carefreely, play sports, imagine the future, and have a vague attempt to love.
There is something in this school that makes people feel that something is not right. The words and emotions of a new female teacher are particularly abrupt on this campus, like the shadows in a beautiful picture, but there is always something different in fairy tales and real life.
Then the plot develops, this woman is really out of tune with the school, she reveals the truth to these naive children, the despair that hides the beautiful campus life.
Fairy tales are still fairy tales, but they have become black fairy tales. The children here are all products of cloning technology. The only value of their existence is to donate all major organs of the body to normal people after they become adults to treat those who need organ transplantation. disease, they are called "donors".
Looking back at some of the things in the previous movies that didn't seem right, it makes me shudder.
No matter what the end point is, the children's growth continues, and as they grow up, the boys and girls who originally had hazy emotions also become lovers.
Our sweet Cathy has always had a crush on Tommy, but as the movie has always suggested to us, Cathy's best girlfriend, Ruth, likes Tommy too, and has the audacity to stay with Tommy since then. Live a life without shame.
After the age of 18, the trio moved to a new place to live, and met some children from other campuses. Their lifestyle changed from fully closed to semi-closed, but they still felt depressed.
In the fast food restaurant, the embarrassment of not being able to order food brought some smiles because of the first time I came to the outside world. Then a minute later, the couple from the white mansion, they had hoped to ask the trio, that legend, the true love couple can "delay" the way of donating organs, but the trio knew nothing. .
The tears dripping from the eyes of the couple and the despair expressed by the helpless hands once again cast a thick haze on the film.
Afterwards, the trio embarked on different forks of fate. Our Kathy was lucky to become a "caregiver", and her job is to accompany the clones waiting for organ donation emotionally, psychologically and daily until those people go to "the end" , when Cathy showed up on the ward, the girl she was caring for appeared to have donated corneas or something once and was waiting for the next one.
If you thought that was all that was hopeless, right away you found out you were wrong, because Ruth's message appeared on the hospital computer while Cathy signed for the girl who ended up after the donation, and Ruth's , at which point two donations have been made.
I learned from Ruth, who was no longer in human form, that Tommy had also completed two donations, and said something even more terrible from Ruth's mouth - after many people donated organs four times, they were basically brain dead. They are like vegetative people, but they can still retain some consciousness. When they die, they no longer need the support of nursing and rehabilitation centers. They just donate more organs before they die until they are unplugged from the ventilator.
Seeing this, I can't watch it anymore. I temporarily closed the player and opened my blog to write this article, but my obsessive-compulsive disorder made it difficult for me to accept half of the movie. I need to relax or vent before continuing to watch the movie. .
Ruth organized a trip, the two of them met Tommy again, and together they went to the beach to find the broken boat on the beach, it was a beautiful scene, but it made me feel like three lonely survivors just passed by. Doomsday.
After Tommy ran excitedly, because of the lack of some organs in his body, I almost turned off the player once.
On this beautiful beach like the end of the world, Ruth confessed that she deliberately broke up Cathy and Tommy, and gave them a lingering hope - the "extended" that once made a couple desperate.
Cathy and Tommy are finally together, and although it feels so unreal, it's a beautiful but sadistic union of the love they never gave up and waited for.
They decided to apply for an extension, meanwhile Ruth "finished" on the operating table, the bloody liver was removed from her beautiful body, the respirator was removed, and her clean face formed with the blood-stained incision In a cruel contrast, she was just abandoned on the operating table, and I turned off the player again. . . .
In this film, hope never exists, hope is only for deeper despair, Cathy and Tommy find the lady who can get them "extended", but finally understand that "extended" is just a legend that does not exist, Madam looked at Cathy who was about to leave with pity, but only said, "Poor creature, I also hope to help you..."
Returning to the beginning of the film, Cathy was separated from the glass window, with Tommy, who was waiting for the "donation" in the operating room, looked at each other affectionately until Tommy was injected with anesthesia and closed his eyes.
Unsurprisingly, Tommy was "finished". I thought this was the end of the film, but Cathy's last monologue caused despair and darkness to sweep over the sky, leaving a little suspense for those who want to watch the movie. Feel the abuse like me. I'm just so unkind.
The black soil of despair blooms white flowers, but in the end the flowers are only used as fertilizers, making this despair even deeper.

Never Let Me Go quotes

  • Kathy: It had never occurred to me that our lives, which had been so closely interwoven, could unravel with such speed. If I'd known, maybe I'd have kept tighter hold of them and not let unseen tides pull us apart.

  • [first lines]

Kathy: My name is Kathy H. I'm 28 years old. I've been a carer for nine years. And I'm good at my job. My patients always do better than expected, and are hardly ever classified as agitated, even if they're about to make a donation. I'm not trying to boast, but I feel a great sense of pride in what we do. Carers and donors have achieved so much. That said, we aren't machines. In the end it wears you down. I suppose that's why I now spend most of my time not looking forwards, but looking back, to The Cottages and Hailsham, and what happened to us there. Me. Tommy. And Ruth.
