One day later, the woman's documentary was rejected and the man's company closed down. Then came the long journey.
I always think that the editing of the dialogue in the car when the two drove out of New York is the highlight of the film. All kinds of mutual complaints, mutual comfort, self-blame, scolding, spitting, pretending to intersperse easily and without warning.
The commune part reminds me of the "Double Martha" I watched before. It is basically the same plot, but because the film is a comedy, of course it lacks a lot of cruel features.
There are many contradictions when couples get along. If you want to take more responsibility, you will tell some white lies when you are under stress. George didn't really yearn for it when he returned to the Garden of Eden, just to avoid the actual experience from trampling on his self-esteem more seriously. And everything here is actually out of place, except for wanting to sleep with Eva.
The nonsense that George made before going to bed with Eva was quite, quite, offensive, and completely regressed the impression of the movie several levels. I think the director is not ignorant, just can't think of a better way to make this sex impossible. Those who have always wanted to cheat failed, and those who were forced to accept this rule did it instead. The director's goal is nothing more than to make George steal chickens and lose money.
I agree with George’s words, that is, how can I leave my wife in such a place alone. I will not be like this when I die.
