In war movies adapted from true events, the final subtitles of the movie usually explain the whereabouts of the protagonist. Some would write, "So-and-so was labeled as a rightist during the Cultural Revolution," or "So-and-so died in the purge." I watched "Rebels" today. I don't need to say more about the good movie. At the end of the film, I stared nervously at the subtitles. When I saw that the Bielski brothers later settled in the United States and enjoyed their old age, I fucking breathed a sigh of relief.
