love and humanity

What is love that can make two people who are not familiar with each other fall in love at first sight, and be sure to experience the vicissitudes of life for each other? What is war, so that so many people who could coexist peacefully draw their swords against each other? What does love teach us in this world? What about war?

The structure at the beginning of the story is a cross-narrative of the past and the present. It intertwines the acquaintance and relationship between the hero Inman and the heroine Ada and the brutal battle that Inman is experiencing on the battlefield today. The past and the present, the warm and the tragic, finally reunited, hinting at its ending.

Like all young men in Lengshan Town, Inman had to leave everything behind to join the army. This stern-looking man always looked thoughtful after Ada came to this town, and finally waited until Ada agreed to this love. , indeed at the time of parting. But at least they have that kiss and picture of each other as proof of missing.

For Inman, who has been baptized by artillery fire for three years, Lengshan Town is not only the hometown of his dreams, but also the spiritual coordinate of Inman. Witnessing the slaughter and cheap lives on the battlefield, Inman decided to obey the call of his heart and set foot on the road

home . Along the way, he passed the kindness and ugliness of human nature, as well as vulnerability and resentment. What brought about all this, enough for God to read through the human nature he created in one day? Is it a damn war? Or is it human nature?

So, the question that the film makes me think about is, is war distorting human nature, so that there is no distinction between good and evil; or is war just an accessory to the evil of human nature?

We take everything for granted as war, but reality seems to remind us that war is just a Pandora's box that was accidentally opened, and the ugly humanity that pops out of the box is the root of all evil. As soon as the news of the war reached Lengshan Town, Teague and

his minions immediately took off their usual disguise and hurriedly declared their authority. Unfortunately, the people who swore before the war were all confused by the imaginary victory and left their families to the young and old. This careerist rushed to the battlefield like a flying firefly to fight a war that

he didn't know whether it was right or wrong. The self-proclaimed captain of the militia, Teague, used to be a farmer. The possession of his ancestors and the possession of his own land made the blood of the "ruling class" flowing in him restless. He was eager to stand up and announce the death of Cold Mountain.

Ownership, like a last emperor waiting to be revived, afraid that Yankees will inadvertently kill his estate and declare that the history of landlords and slaves is over. So he chased down deserters frantically, killed innocent people wantonly, and frantically carried out the doomsday rule.

You might say that this is just an apocalyptic carnival for the vicious slave-owner class who is about to be ousted in the tide of history, but what about them as the conquering party - the Northern Army? Is bullying a widow and making a baby cry helplessly in the cold wind, is this the way to preach

justice? There is no right or wrong on both sides of the war, because war is inherently a mistake.

So, can we conclude from this that it is the war that gave birth to the evil of human nature? Is war the root of all evil?

However, what is the origin of the war? Without going into the factors of ideological differences and class struggle here, isn't war, in my opinion, a concentrated outbreak of all injustices in life? Therefore, since the essence of war is man, it is still man himself that determines its nature. How, then, are we to judge the relationship between war and man?

Perhaps compared with war, we should be more afraid of people. While God gave human beings their emotions and desires, they also created human weaknesses. When temptation hits him, the evils of human nature quickly gain the upper hand, which in turn spawns even greater tragedies. War is just the catalyst for this process!

Humans are inherently evil, should we feel sorry for ourselves? What can save all this?

Like two powerful forces, the same powerful human emotion can defeat evil. The answer given by "Cold Mountain" is the love between Inman and Ada, as well as the true love shown by the widow and the elderly living alone who Inman encountered on the road; For Inman, who was in excruciating pain, the way home symbolized a baptism, washing away all sin and dust, and finally returning to his pure hometown. The value of true love in the world is only apparent when the evil of human nature is rampant, and perhaps this is the only benefit that war brings to us.

The second time I watched this film, I finally decided to jot down my thoughts. Anthony Minghella is a well-known director, and the delicate emotional expression in his films can always make the audience feel the same; the most unforgettable thing for me in this film is the last Inman will die when Inman reunites with Ada in the snow. The paragraphs around are heartbreakingly romantic. Jude Law is full of beards most of the time in this film, and he is more perfect interpretation of the love and responsibility of men, and he is the actor I admire most in the film. There is also Renee Zellweger, the image of a strong village woman makes people laugh and also makes people more aware of her strong acting skills, and the Oscar is well deserved.
