Overall it's a great action movie adaptation, and it's faithful to the original, unlike some of the recent smash hits.
The movie is adapted from the Graphic Novel of the same name (similar to comics, but relying on novels), and the movie's restoration of the original is very high, many lines are directly applied (such as Joe's confession to Nicky), and the characters are highly restored ( Even Copley and Nile, who are modern, are set as black, based on the original). Greg Rucka, the original author, mentioned in the interview that when he was talking with Netflix about adapting the movie, he made it clear that if Netflix deleted the settings of Joe and Nicky, they would not shoot, so the movie can set the pair. Say high recovery.
But I think due to budget constraints, the memories of Booker, Joe and Nicky in the original work were not able to be shown in pictures. After all, it is a historical scene, such as the Crusades, which is a bit regrettable (although the original work also two-page manga performance).
Overall, The Old Guard is one of the few adaptations in recent years that is truly faithful to the original.
