The director of "The Skin of My Dwelling" is Pedro Amovado. Perhaps people who are familiar with Amovado will suddenly realize, ah, it turns out to be him, then it is not surprising. Most of Amovado's films are based on the theme of curiosity, ethics and morality are all clouds in his eyes, and they only talk about the deepest sins and desires hidden in human nature.
The beauty of ultimate destruction, the emotion of crazy subversion, Amovado destroys the order but builds his perfect spiritual castle on top of the ruins.
In "The Skin of My Dwelling", Amovado used an outrageous story to tell the relationship between the skin and the core personality of the human body. Is our name a symbol of individual cognition, or is it our personality and soul? When the appearance has completely changed into another person, can we still be called the original self?
The cosmetic doctor has developed a new type of skin and cosmetic technology, and has achieved great success in his career, but in his family, he has suffered a lot. His beloved wife eloped with his half-brother. After a car accident, his whole body was destroyed. This is why doctors are obsessed with skin research that is not afraid of fire.
After the doctor rescued his wife, he forgave her. However, the wife couldn't bear it because of her disfigurement. She jumped off the building and died in front of her young daughter. The daughter became mentally weak, and the family was torn apart.
The daughter became the doctor's father's only hope, and it was also the cage that imprisoned him, like a safety valve, allowing the doctor's father to maintain the moral standards of normal people. However, the daughter was still destroyed by a man who was not actually a complete villain, but an indirect killer who caused her daughter to commit suicide.
The daughter, like her mother, chose to commit suicide, and all the evil that the doctor's father was imprisoned was released. He kidnapped the man back, and after several years of imprisonment and transformation, plastic surgery, and mental pressure, the man became the strange woman in the room at the beginning of the movie.
On the surface, the doctor is taking revenge on the murderer who "killed" his daughter. However, when he completely portrays this new woman as his dead wife, and has physical and emotional sustenance for him, this revenge becomes a cover up. Selfishness under punishment is satisfied without any regard for the moral code of human society.
Amovado is known by fans as the man who understands women the most. In his films, he shows the characteristics of women in the deepest and many aspects. In "The Skin of My Residence", a man is transformed into a woman, but the change in appearance brings about a change in spirit and personality.
"She" is no longer rash, no longer thinking of hitting hard with strength, but taking advantage of the characteristics of women, being gentle and tolerant, holding back hatred, and using lies and conspiracies to gradually let the doctor off guard, so that the counter-kill successfully achieves her goal. Is "she" a woman? Despite her self-denial, "she" has indeed become a woman as defined in the public's mind and in the eyes of the public.
At the end of the film, "she" returned to her home and confessed her identity to her mother and the clerk in her mother's store. Here, the bad taste that the director buried, the female clerk whom "she" had a crush on when she was a man was actually a homosexual, and the crush of different genders failed. At this time, there seems to be new hope, and it seems that "her" will live in the future. Not that bad either.
Although the story is bizarre and turned into a mystery, Amovado does show you more possibilities. Where life is not weird, there is always reality that is much more exaggerated than art, or watching many such movies can improve our general tolerance. I recommend everyone to watch it.
