The hatred between fans of different clubs in England is perhaps one of the greatest in the world and is said to go deeper than the hatred between Israel and Palestine. The bickering before the game and the big fight after the game seem to be commonplace. Every club will have its own loyal fan organization, they can swear to defend the club's honor. In my impression, the most famous should be Liverpool's KOP.
Of course not everyone can be a part of this kind of organization, like Matt in the film. The backbone of the organization are locals who have steady jobs and incomes to support the high ticket costs and beer bills each season.
They're violent, they're crazy, but they're also sane. Unless something seriously violated their interests, like the scramble between GSE and Tommy after Steve was stabbed. Of course, it will pay back sooner or later, and the brave Pete finally fell. But we also see a side of football hooliganism. Although they are violent, they will never go beyond the most basic moral bottom line. Those things that died were accidental or the result of a very small number of madmen.
Elijah Wood's last words are well said. Sometimes we have to stand our ground, but sometimes we have to learn to let go immediately, otherwise we will die ugly. This is the lesson of blood.
