Canadian Max Vatan and French Marianne Beauséjour work under cover on a mission in Casablanca to assassinate the German ambassador. They play a couple and they do become one after they fall in love and accomplish their mission successfully. All this happens in the first quarter of the film and we have seen this story in numerous films which are entirely about this plot. So I was very nervous what would happen further on and it was great. I think this film shows us that war and love are extremely complicated on their own and when they mix things get out of control. "Allied" is also about thrust and not giving up, about the courage to fight for our love even in the most challenging times. The beauty of this film is that it is quite straightforward and depicts the awe of WW2 in a very tangible and powerful way.
