Generally considered a qualified noir-style film. It tells the story of an insurance salesman who commits adultery with a woman he fell in love with at first sight and conspires to kill her husband to get a 100,000 bond.

The content is a little old-fashioned today, but the script is very complete and very meaningful. Among them, Patton's reasoning is impressive.
It opens with a man racing wildly on the road. He went back to the company and told the wrongdoing on the telephone. The film also unfolds in his slow narrative. This kind of flashback should have been quite novel at the time.

There are two interesting passages in the play, which are excerpted as follows: - This state has a speed limit of 45 miles per hour. - What's my speed? -About 90 miles. - You have to get off the motorcycle and give me a ticket. - I'll give you a warning this time. - If I don't heed the warning? - I'll knock you out with a punch. - I will cry and lie on your shoulders. - It's better to lie on my husband's shoulder. When two people commit a murder, it's like two people in a car together, two people are trapped together, and they can't get off until the end, and the end is the grave.

Finally, let's briefly analyze the most complicated character in Mrs. Di's play.
From the point of view of the way of doing things, she is a ruthless character who judges the situation and makes decisive decisions.
She first rejected the salesman's pursuit, and then tentatively asked about accident insurance. After the conspiracy was exposed, he relentlessly went to the meeting late at night, pretending to be pitiful to gain the sympathy of others.
She is greedy again. Originally a young nurse, she quickly ascended the post after murdering a patient.
It is not difficult to guess that her childhood was spent with ups and downs. Only money is a talisman, a peace of mind. The more you can have, the more you want.

She thought she was unhappy because she lacked money, but in fact, she lacked love.

I've seen much closer to the plot, and "Body Heat" is one of them, but after all, this is the first one, and it is even comparable to Hitchcock's best films in terms of suspense setting skills and increased dramatic tension.

In fact, I don’t really like this kind of noir film very much. After watching it, I always feel a sense of depression. The tone of this film itself is relatively old-fashioned. It’s not like I don’t like it.

Double Indemnity quotes

  • Walter Neff: How could I have known that murder could sometimes smell like honeysuckle?

  • Walter Neff: Suddenly it came over me that everything would go wrong. It sounds crazy, Keyes, but it's true, so help me. I couldn't hear my own footsteps. It was the walk of a dead man.
