Canis Island: I believe that the world will have beautiful moments, maybe not. Tears are precious when I believe
When I was writing this quick review, a friend invited me to go to "Isle of Dogs" for the second time. I just downloaded "The Great Fox Dad", and I was ready to read and write about the director Anderson, and I will leave it to the system to write after the second brush.
I hadn't heard much of this director before until I watched "The Grand Budapest Hotel". This flexible use of rich and gorgeous colors, symmetry and force, constantly breaking the narrative space, constitutes a wonderful intertextuality, Zweig's deep and playful love for European literature, The sarcasm and the faint sadness of the strange world of the secular world are my greatest feelings for this movie. Check the background information, adapted from Zweig's novel and through Zweig's suicide metaphor that the entire European culture is being forced to die out by war and people's hearts. The director has great ambition and is full of a kind of tenacious love. She makes the children in the picture remember the writer playfully, just like remembering that we were once brilliant. But it doesn't matter. Laughing happily and laughing to the memory of sadness is a precious meaning.
Being able to watch "Isle of Dogs" in the theater means an upgrade of the pleasure. The director is probably afraid of being bored, and the sound and picture are always rich and overwhelmed. He is probably not making movies, but borrowing movies to make exquisite works of art.
Digression, the filming method of "Loving Van Gogh" is admirable, but it is not a movie in terms of presentation. In fact, if Anderson was asked to shoot Van Gogh, it would be the least depressing Van Gogh. Now Van Gogh has become a representative of idealism, but for Van Gogh himself, maybe he just wanted spiritual tranquility.
As soon as "Canis Island" came out, the unstoppable sound of Japanese drums and a strong oriental temperament made me a little uncomfortable when the dog who suddenly announced it spoke English. Anderson of Taurus does have a strong Virgo temperament, which means that the Chinese translation should closely follow this design. The front is very good. I have to complain that the phrase "no problem" appears twice, and it always feels a bit weird. ... People are funny and playful, not random Northeast slang, there is always a weird feeling.
There is a little attention to the subtitles of the entire movie. The movie pre-sets the dogs and we let them speak English. Humans and dogs can’t understand each other’s words innately, but the little boy can feel it with his heart. Since most of the people are Japanese, they all use Japanese without subtitles. Occasionally, there are English translations in the stories. The drum sounds that appear from time to time with the language are full of peculiar interest.
The charm of stop-motion animation is also repeatedly displayed by color and composition. Anderson's unique charm can be seen everywhere. It is a prerequisite that it will not be dull. At the same time, I am reluctant to throw away the impact of any picture. It has not been a long time, even if the plot is attractive, I still don't want to miss the sound. The fun of drawing and matching.
Since these are the first viewings of the movie, there is not much development, and people who love his unique weirdness and witty will definitely have multiple pleasures. As always, I still care about the story. "The Grand Budapest Hotel" is bypassing the complicated design. What hits us is the story of a small servant following an amazing hotel executive, who is full of charm, no one understands poetry, and has a strange romance with an old lady. thing. But he devoted his true teaching and love to this colored little follower, and in the end, it was also to protect the little follower and his own resistance to unfairness. The supervisor disappeared, and the little follower who became the boss remembered him by going back to that small room to sleep every year. , so that you can recall the time with this teacher.
"Canis Island" always seems to be close to the motif in Anderson's hands. This time, the evil mayor used a conspiracy to make the dogs sick and infect humans, and exiled all the dogs on the garbage island. When their conspiracy succeeded, the nephew adopted by the mayor took the risk of landing a plane for his beloved dog. Those five dogs who were touched by him helped the little boy to find his dog. A group of people risked resistance and made progress at the same time. The process of students constantly trying to debunk the truth. The story is actually relatively simple, although the lines are also rich and exciting, in the process of such delicate treatment of details, what moves people is still the simple and affectionate gaze, and the perseverance in waiting after being treated kindly by others.
The five dogs in it are quite interesting. The four domestic dogs cherish each other's happy life. The black dog who brings drama and promotes the dirty is a wild dog. He does not like his hatred and aggression towards humans because he has not been treated well Although he didn't want to admit his fate, he was easily moved by the little boy's sincerity. The process of dog training inside is really creative. The little boy threw a stick and hoped the black dog would pick it up. He didn't want to, he was an arrogant wild dog. When the little girl tried to speak softly, the black dog said ok, it's not because of listening to you, but because of your pity. When he picked it up, the interaction with each other began to have the premise of trust, and it became more and more difficult to separate. In this process, the little boy himself was trapped because of the loss of his parents, and the evil butler passed on the kind of values that should not be kind to him. In fact, whether a child or a dog, he is more like a weak and weak us. The gesture of fangs, but after checking the eyes, I realized that they can need each other very warmly.
Anderson took care of this very well, and he also incorporated more of his own taste. So it's not just ordinary kind people, but more interesting. Anderson is obviously obsessed with Japanese culture, such as Akira Kurosawa, so he restores it quite realistically, but if we say this sense of humor, it is still a cold British feeling, very European. It's not the Japanese sense of humor, but the stubbornness shown by the little boy is very Japanese people's spirit, and it's not abrupt when put together. Probably the true feelings in the world do not need to be guessed, they are simply confirmed to each other.
Of course, the film still has a lot of themes to extend, but I feel that his ambition is not here, and it is more expressed in a kind of staring at each other, even if you don't understand the language, but you care about me, I will naturally shed tears of warmth, a kind of distressing. bitterness. And the beginning of the story of the dog's hardships on the island is indeed a kind of elegant humor. Many times I was afraid that he would brutally kill the dogs all at once. Anderson probably played a few times, but he should be a soft person at heart. He wanted our inner child to be happy for a while. It is an elegant luxury.
The film ends a bit fast at the end, and the whole rhythm is very tight with drums. Suddenly, the mayor begins to find out in his conscience, the evil housekeeper stands up, and the Anderson-style nonsense historical battle between cats and dogs has directly entered the family carnival. There is a little bit of the aftertaste of "Budapest" missing here. Generally speaking, we still understand that such a dazzling and wonderful shooting method belongs to our childhood dream. It is too gorgeous, so it cannot be true. If it is a happy ending, it is not tempting enough.
But I am willing to indulge in his tricks again and again. The depth of the tricks is probably Anderson, a simple kind heart that has made many literary and artistic young people so. Because it is simple, it must be gorgeous enough.
Go to the cinema and experience it, it's worth it.
