You can't kill all the witnesses

This film revolves around witnesses. The first police officer killed knew the inside story of the drug trade and was killed. The little boy Samuel became the second witness in the murder case, and John Book was the third witness who knew the truth. People, also facing the situation of being murdered, have to flee to protect themselves and Samuel's safety. John's assistant became the fourth witness on the phone and was killed. In the final episode, when John's boss wanted to kill him, he said: Can you kill all the witnesses here?
And the film puts the story in the Amish society, perhaps to express a thought of reflecting on violence, the grandfather inside said to his grandson: sin is in people’s hearts, if you don’t want to have sin, don’t touch those dirty things . And John's boss committed a series of sins just to cover up one sin.

It's an old movie from 800 years ago. Harrison Ford, Nicolas Cage, Andy Lau, it's like watching these people as a kid.

This movie gave me the feeling that the director suddenly couldn’t figure out what kind of movie the film was when it was filming. The film looks very embarrassing. The good-looking parts of this film are basically only the crime part at the beginning and the end. The love part in the middle is too gentle and boring. There are too many things to express in this film, and in the end it feels like nothing has been said well. However, the film is not without highlights, the performance and action scenes are still worth watching, but the ending is really not very good, a hasty ending feeling. This film is Harrison Ford's only Oscar nomination. It is well completed and has bright spots, but the overall difficulty is not big. The performance of the female lead is also very good, but the little boy is just mediocre and feels dazed.

  • [John, Rachel, Eli, and Samuel are sitting down to a hearty breakfast after John's first morning of farm work. Eli dumps food on John's plate]

    John Book: No, no...

Eli Lapp: Eat, Book, eat. What's the matter, where is your appetite?

John Book: I'm not used to eating in the middle of the night.

Eli Lapp: Not used to hard work. That's what makes appetite.

John Book: [takes a sip of coffee] Honey, that's great coffee!

John Book: [all pause, puzzled] Uh, it's a joke... from a commercial... on television.

  • Samuel Lapp: Goodbye, John Book.

    John Book: Goodbye, Samuel.
