The Orphanage--Everything Comes From Your Beliefs

I recently rewatched this top-ranked suspense movie that I've been obsessed with since I watched it when I was in junior high school, and I accidentally discovered a new clue-Peter Pan, Peter Pan.

At the beginning of the story, Laura is discussing the Peter Pan plot with Simon. Simon asks her if Wendy can't go to Neverland when she grows up. By the end of the movie, the kids are around Laura, saying she's getting old, just like Wendy.

Why Peter Pan? Peter Pan is a story about "faith". If you don't believe in Tinkerbell's magic, you can't fly with them. If no one believes in Tinkerbell, she will lose her magic power or even disappear.

In The Lonely Castle, ghosts appear to Laura when she decides to believe in their existence, and when she drives them to choose reality, the children, including Simon, are nothing but rotting corpses. And Simon, out of the innocence of children, has always believed in the existence of children, so he can see Thomas from the time he was in the cave. There are real ghosts in this movie. It just depends on people's beliefs. It is this setting that fulfills the warm feelings in the story.

The Orphanage quotes

  • Simón: [while reading Peter Pan] Wendy grows old and dies?

Laura: Wendy grows old, but Peter Pan takes her daughter to Neverland every year.

Simón: Why doesn't Wendy go, too? If Peter Pan came to get me, would you come, too?

Laura: No. I'm too old to go to Neverland, darling.

    Simón: How old are you?

    Laura: Thirty-seven.

Simón: At what age will you die?

Laura: What sort of question is that? Not for a long time, until you're very old.

Simón: I won't grow old. I'm not going to grow up.

Laura: Will you be like Peter Pan?

    Simón: Like my new friends.

    Laura: There's more than one?

    Simón: Six.

Laura: They won't grow up either?

    Simón: They can't.

  • Aurora: Seeing is not believing. It's the other way around. Believe, and you will see.
