History is reincarnating

It's more of a film about history than a vampire genre. Although it is inconsistent with history, the words at the beginning and end of the film are the best witness - the reincarnation of history. Vampires are pathetic, Henry is like that, caught in an infinite life, watching his companions go away one by one. In this way, it is not difficult to understand why he wanted to turn Lincoln into a vampire. In fact, this movie touched me deeply, maybe it was not what I understood it was meant to express.
——History remembers the battlefield, but ignores the killing.
History will always remember the good side, but throw the dark side into the abyss. History is not complete, as Lincoln said: If history has a record for me, it is only a small part of the truth.
Old times at first, modern times now. Henry's words haven't changed, everything is just like reincarnation. Perhaps, history is reincarnating. Vampires are forever caught in this endless cycle, with infinite time, great power, but nothing to do.
Maybe it's all in a loop.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter quotes

  • [Henry leads Abe to the cellar of his home, to test him on what he has learned]

Henry Sturgess: Before you protect others from darkness, you must first be able to protect yourself. Your enemies have the power to render themselves invisible. You must have the ability to fight blind. To see without seeing.

[He shuts the door, plunging the room into darkness. There are the sounds of grunts, blows landing and Abe moaning. The door opens, revealing Abe, coughing and bloody, crawling slowly towards the door as if to leave]

    Abraham Lincoln: Again.

    [He shuts the door]

  • [Mary comes to visit Abe and Will in jail]

Mary Todd Lincoln: I've spoken to the Senator. He'll have you out soon.

Will Johnson: You're far too kind, Miss Todd.

    [indicates Abe]

Will Johnson: And he's far too ugly to have a woman like you.

Mary Todd Lincoln: [smiles] Well, I think plain-looking men are the best. It's why the Lord made so many of them.
