wonder boy

Wonder Boy, the second movie of 2018.

A boy born with a facial deformity, walks into a school, walks into a crowd, and you can imagine what happens. However, this movie does not focus on the boy's distinctive appearance, nor does it deliberately provocative, but it presents the scenes in front of your eyes very vividly. It is cute and warm enough, delicate and beautiful, with laughter and tears.

And the movie isn't just about the boy, it's about the people around him. In fact, everyone is different, everyone has their own troubles, and it will not change because of who is different in a certain way. But people who live seriously, persevere, and be sincere and kind will always reap happier results because of their nature.

If you choose between right and kind, choose kind. Even if the world seems to be a bit bad, with bullying, discrimination, and filth, we still have to have a kind heart, so that we can discover the truth, goodness and beauty of this world. The world is not as good as you think, but it's not as bad as you think.

A little more kindness, a little more love. Kindness and love are magical things. They cannot be seen or touched, but they can be deeply felt and deeply infected. It can turn the cold into warmth, the cold into kindness, and a world full of malice instantly beautiful. I think this is where the miracle lies.

[UA Berkeley 7] 2017.12.5.4:15pm The method of telling the story through the perspectives of my brother, sister Iva, my friend Jack Will, and my sister and friend Miranda is still very clever. But the whole film is still placed (confined) in a kind of safe middle-class space, and several fights are highly controlled. The only scene where Julian's parents are cruel to the headmaster is just a small episode.

These child actors and actresses are ridiculously beautiful, right? Where can you find a Jack will for me in reality? The god of children.

Wonder quotes

  • Mr. Tushman: The final award this morning is the Henry Ward Beecher medal to honor students who have been notable or exemplary. Usually, it's a "good works," a service award. But I came upon a passage that he wrote, which made me realize that good works come in many forms. "Greatness," he wrote, "lies not in being strong, but in the right using of strength. He or she is the greatest whose strength carries up the most hearts by the attraction of his own." Without further ado, this year, I am very proud to award the Henry Ward Beecher medal to the student whose quiet strength has carried up the most hearts.

  • Jack Will: [from the trailer] Have You Ever Considered Plastic Surgery?

Auggie: [chuckles] Dude This Is After Plastic Surgery

[runs his hand through his hair]
