We may not be worthy of marrying into a wealthy family

Completely disappointed.

This film was not badly shot, the music, pictures, and storytelling rhythm are all smooth,

The disappointing point is that I can't understand the choice made by the heroine at all.

In terms of plot, the heroine is very wise and brave,

She has overcome all difficulties, including the unfriendly social circle of the rich and the harsh elders,

But a girl with a very good socioeconomic status,

In front of a wealthy family, I need to be so humiliated and need to overcome these, I can't agree.

*

Her boyfriend was almost completely absent from every scene where she was being harassed. She had to be strong and beautiful by herself. It was hard for me to understand,

Has he foreseen that if his girlfriend wears ordinary clothes to the dinner party, she will be laughed at?

Does he think it won't, or does he think it doesn't matter, or is he simply not thinking about it?

The heroine's friend heard the man's name and immediately helped her change her outfit.

Facts have also proved that his social circle is definitely a group of blood-devouring sharks.

Did he foresee that his mother and grandma would not be able to accept her?

Then he went home to communicate in advance, or what did he do in advance? It doesn't seem to be.

He grew up in a background where his mother was not welcome, so he was raised by his grandmother,

To make the old man love him more, then he should not be so naive, thinking that his mother and grandmother are good people with kind eyes and good intentions?

He took his girlfriend back directly and let her be swayed by his circle of relatives and friends, which was really speechless.

The wedding scene is even more outrageous. He is the best man and accompanies the groom on the other side of the auditorium.

The groom asked him: Did you see her?

The male protagonist said that he should hide in an inconspicuous place behind him.

So you don't think she might be cold and excluded, so why didn't you do anything?

Find a friend to bring her in, and arrange a seat first.

He thinks it's OK for his girlfriend to hide in a corner and attend the wedding silently?

Are they two people in love? What the hell is he doing?

Complete inaction to even make me wonder if he thinks these are tests for the heroine!

So in the end, when mother and grandmother joined hands to humiliate the heroine,

I saw with a cold face that the male protagonist was suddenly angry, how can you blabla over there...

The face of the pursuit of true love is really disgusting, do you have a brain?

I don't understand at all, after going through all this,

The female protagonist will also feel that she has true love and wants to marry the male protagonist. What is the mood?

Love may really be so great and blind, but I have forgotten it when I am old.

If I were the heroine, I would break up immediately.

I'll be sad for being trampled, but not for a second for this madness,

If this is the price of marrying into a wealthy family, we ordinary people are really unworthy.

Not to mention, I can't see that behind the romantic proposal, the two of them have solved any problems first,

For example, if the male lead goes back to take over the family business, where will they live after they get married, whether the female lead's career needs to be changed, etc.

I'm sorry, I'm just being realistic. A serious marriage should talk about these things first before moving on.

Crazy Rich Asians quotes

  • Rachel Chu: Thanks for meeting me here.

[Eleanor eyes the other two women at the mahjong table]

Rachel Chu: Don't worry about them. They're half-deaf and they only speak Hokkien.

[Long pause as Eleanor reluctantly settles into her seat]

Rachel Chu: My mom taught me how to play. She told me mahjong would teach me important life skills: Negotiation. Strategy. Cooperation.

Eleanor Young: You asked me here, I assume it's not for a mahjong lesson.

    [Shows her tiles]

    Eleanor Young: Pong.

    [Snidely remarks]

Eleanor Young: My mother taught me too.

Rachel Chu: I know Nick told you the truth about my mom, but you didn't like me the second I got here. Why is that?

Eleanor Young: There is a Hokkien phrase 'kaki lang'. It means: our own kind of people, and you're not our own kind.

Rachel Chu: Because I'm not rich? Because I didn't go to a British boarding school, or wasn't born into a wealthy family?

Eleanor Young: You're a foreigner. American - and all Americans think about is their own happiness.

Rachel Chu: Don't you want Nick to be happy?

Eleanor Young: It's an illusion. We understand how to build things that last. Something you know nothing about.

Rachel Chu: You don't know me.

Eleanor Young: I know you're not what Nick needs.

Rachel Chu: [pauses] Well he proposed to me yesterday.

    [pauses]

Rachel Chu: He said he'd walk away from his family and from you for good.

    [pauses]

Rachel Chu: Don't worry, I turned him down.

Eleanor Young: [sighs] Only a fool folds a winning hand.

Rachel Chu: Mm no. There's no winning. You made sure of that. 'Cause if Nick chose me, he would lose his family. And if he chose his family, he might spend the rest of his life resenting you.

Eleanor Young: [after a long pause] So you chose for him...

Rachel Chu: I'm not leaving because I'm scared, or because I think I'm not enough - because maybe for the first time in my life, I know I am.

    [Choking back tears]

Rachel Chu: I just love Nick so much, I don't want him to lose his mom again. So I just wanted you to know: that one day - when he marries another lucky girl who is enough for you, and you're playing with your grandkids while the Tan Huas are blooming, and the birds are chirping - that it was because of me: a poor, raised by a single mother, low class, immigrant nobody.

[Shows her tiles. Gets up. Walks to her mom, who turns and glares at Eleanor]

  • Astrid Young Teo: It was never my job to make you feel like a man. I can't make you something you're not.
